Hey, I wanted to know if could tell me if it would be safe to house 4 today geckos, 3 Chinese water dragons with a pair of gold Tegus in a large paludarium. I'm custom building the paludarium with a 400 gallon aquarium built into it, it will be an L shaped enclosure with the long side measuring ~ 9' long x 3' wide and the short side being ~ 4'6" long and 3' wide, the whole enclosure will be 7' tall with lots of branches and foliage. The aquarium will be 2 feet off of the ground and ~16" off the substrate to provide an extra cool area and it will have 2 feet above it for the water dragons to bask on branches placed over the tank which will include turtles in it, the tank will be 5' long.

My logic is let him have the whole space because animals live outside anyways so what’s the harm in giving your captive reptile as much space as given

ILoveFrenchToast I got the info from the best breeder in Europe, where I will get my tegu from (they are called Quolibet). They also ship their special lizards to USA, because they have some very rare ones. Good luck finding a tegu hatchling in a 8x4x4 🦎

Usually bigger isn't a bad thing with most lizard species. Snakes can get stressed out if their enclosure is too big, but for most lizards, especially active ones like tegus, it should be fine.

Spartan954 I have a crested gecko (the one in my picture), they need a smaller enclosure until they are 1-2 years, because they get easily stressed out. All im saying is, with an 8x4x4 enclosure + substrate, good luck finding your tegu 🙈

If the heat and the humidity are proper for a Tegu. But remember we're in south florida that's why Rian can keep his Tegus outside. Tegus are thriving in the south florida environment and have set up an established population as an invasive species.

Hey, thanks for the vids very helpful for me starting out. Any tips to get my tegu eating? Had him 2 weeks and he’s approx 3-4 month old and still not really getting stuck in like should. Only eaten 2 crickets 2 pinkies and 1 locust since had. Tried all foods, chicken heart, liver, roaches, turkey mince and not interest. Ever heard of them not eating much after sell for a while when settling in. Just concerned as all videos I see they are pigs and eat loads!

U can only keep them out temporarily... I have to raise them indoors like me...

I'd just play it safe and keep them inside. When they're full grown they'll need a big custom enclosure 8ftx4ftx2ft or bigger.

Yeah about right.. remember just control the humidity when they younger so they shed properly...when they are older not alot is heavily needed
