Thanks to this review, I actually switch to the anker one Considering I plan to use this on my laptop during work, so that's at least 8 hours continuous use, and when I use my laptop, i do use it heavily. Shuting down after 30 minutes is really bad Ugreen is way cheaper though compared to Anker. But Anker's price is a price I'm willing to pay

No, nope, no. These are both 100% unacceptable. If a product claims it delivers 65w then it needs to do this continually or it's false advertising.

lowering/throttling power by maybe 10% is one thing, turning off entirely ??????
@prashank

Then I recommend not buying tiny chargers. There are bulky ones that can run forever. I personally prefer tiny adapters even if they throttle as most devices don't draw full power for very long so I am okay with that tradeoff. That being said, they definitely need to make the fact that these throttle known on the box as it's otherwise false advertising.
@ahgflyguy

@@prashankthat’s not really reasonable, since your operating environment may be significantly warmer than mine, or you might have another charger plugged in right below it, or you might have it’s airflow completely impeded , or you might have a room fan that blows on it, or... lots of things. There would need to be a standard operating environment and standard orientation defined in order to make a useful and claim about not throttling. Is that hard to do? Not really. But it’s still less valuable than user reviews I think.

I *hate* the 5 volt x 3 amp split that just about every one of these adapters does whenever you add the A port into the mix. These are no exception, apparently. What the hell am I going to do with that meager-a$$ power split across TWO ports? Starting to think that carrying SEPARATE USB-A and USB-C chargers is the move. BTW, unrelated, but on a business trip I got extremely ticked off at my 100W Baseus non-desktop charger. (It’s the wall one with 2 C ports and 2 A ports). My work-issued Surface Laptop was charging, but slowly per the icon, despite having it plugged into the primary USB-C port with nothing else plugged in. Surprised to have better luck with an AmazonBasics 65W, when it comes to charging that laptop. That AmazonBasics one charges EVERYTHING… for me at least .

I bought the 65W version to charge my UGREEN 130W 20000 mAh power bank and it got super warm! The charger thermal throttled down from 60W to 22W after 20 minutes. I need a better charger with better heat dissipation if I want to maintain a constant 65W charging. What do you recommend for continuous 65W charging?
@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace 2 ай бұрын
I don't know. Most new stuff is less efficient and throttles or gets blistering hot and breaks. Apples 70W adapter and googles 45w adapter were better for thermals. You can always step up to 100W for some headroom on the power adapter.

In my opinion, the latest anker charger is a total fail. Yes, is more sleek than the "previous" one, but anker rolls back from charging protocol PIQ 4 on the old one towards PIQ 3 on the new one. I got the 65w eu version last Feb, it has been a great replacement for my charging brick(s). One thing I noticed is that C1 and C2 are too close together, even with the provided cable and ugreen's own 90-degree-USB-C cable they kind of pushing each other for space.. Also the C1 and C2 doesn't always works with usb C devices that use older protocol. I can charge low power devices like stylus, mouse, earpods and whatnot, but for some reason my headphone and torchlight won't charge on either C1 or C2, they only accept charge via the A-port. For comparison the 65w charger from hp envy actually charge all of these things just fine, just not at the same time and at lower speed for my specific phone (40m to 80% vs 23m)

I might be late but i do buy alot of ugreen chargers lately(3 in the last 3 months). I bought those robo gan chargers 2pcs of 65w and 1 100w(the latest one with tft display). I did a stress test with them (charging at 65w for the 65w chargers). It heated up and how hot it is its alarming that i had to point a fan to the charger to keep its temp down. For the 100w charger, i tested it with charging 3 powerbanks at the same time(45w, 18w, 18w type c outputs). It heated up like real hot and im not comfortable with holding it and i also pointed a fan on the charger to keep its temp low. I did reach out to ugreen about this and they said that its peak temperature is 70degrees celsius, since i have no way to test the temp, they just dismissed my concern. Ill be buying an anker charger in the near future once they launch a 3 type c output and 1 usb a output. Im not comfortable with my ugreen chargers but if it works then why not? I wont be pushing it for now.

Electronics moves in waves, ha. But yes, technology may move fast, but power electronics moves slow, safety of course is a big concern, but also design review time and control chip availability/cost/complexity. So, throw a USB C port on the product cause the physical port is cheaper, but then it's really a USB A/B device, or a QC device, so requires that older port. It makes sense to include at least one USB A port still.

@@AllThingsOnePlace usb a only chargers are plentiful in the market. The is no need to mix them in a new product where in the future the port cannot be used. As of today I also do observe there are only 1-2 usb c on motherboards with 8 usb a ports. It will take at least another 50 years for usb a to disappear.

Nice to see these reviewed! I bought nexode pro 65 a few months ago and its been working fine for me but I don't have anything that can really push it to operate at max for more than 30 mins. It is disappointing to learn it just shuts off after some time operating at max output. I only charge a macbook air, iphone and airpods with mine so its never getting worked very hard. The new anker prime looks promising just hate how large the 100watts are. They don't always place nice with loose plugs. Looking forward to future reviews!.

That's a tough one. Most of these are not very rugged and certainly not outdoor rated. Outdoor and work, I think construction site. In either case, if that laptop can draw 100 watts, this and any other 100 watt subcompact adapter is not made to do 100 watts all the time, there is a reason the laptop comes with a 240w adapter so in terms of general recommendation, it's a no.

I recently bought the nexode pro 100w, but sadly it didn't support super fast charging 2.0 for my s23 ultra, the first few seconds when i plug-in to my phone it says super fast charge 2.0 but then suddenly it changes to only fast charging. The weird thing is that i tried on my s20 note, and it super fast charged 1.0 work normally, without suddenly having to drop to fast charged. I've tried to switch the cable and all of it were 5A cables that i used, but still the result is still the same. It's a shame really... i don't know why it's like that.

That's a lot of assuming... The fact is phones are complicated with how they manage charging so whether it shortens battery life versus how the battery is managed is questionable. The studies are approximations at best. Charging at 1C versus 2C, if top and bottom of charge end are managed and thermals are managed, may not make any difference at all, every cycle damages the battery. Phones don't do what they say they do on the screen, that's just hype and nonsense. I haven't seen any evidence that a UGREEN charger will offer those hyper speed charging modes for phones. But yeah, those are like 20C charge rates, that is not realistic.

I don't give a best of in every video, but also specifically don't do what everyone else does which is, say everything is amazing... YT wants that, it's easier for them to sell ads too. Interesting. I wonder if that's why the generation shift I've been seeing where everything new is worse than the last gen product. I'd expect the domestic ICs to match performance or even exceed since they can optimize further in house and these aren't leading edge technologies. Hmmm. I have no idea but it is very intriguing.
