Absolutely brilliant farm, and highly motivating. How do you deal with diseases, and other parasites, do you sell the raw plant or are you involved in processing them?

Hi, I never knew this wonderful plant was used in Malaysia. Ugwu is the Igbo name for it and in my language is Nkong Ubong used for Edi Kan ikong soup. Can you please let me know how those stakes that is holding the vine assembled? What do you use to hold them up. I'm hoping to get seed from mine. I've been trying to figure out how to build something up so I can move my ugwu plants from my basement laundry room (makeshift greenhouse 😂) to outside when it warms up soon. Thanks for your input.

In Africa we after about two to three months we used to harvest like every 4 weeks at most. It's more profitable like that . I advice you study ugwu harvest on KZbin more.

Very interesting video and detailed explanation.. Please what do you use the blue colour drum for and don't you plant for pods harvesting too?
@Myfarm67682 жыл бұрын
@Adeniji, blue containers to collect water, use if no rain. Choose only 10 female plants a season to grow at mother garden just to produce seeds pod only.

@@Myfarm6768 Alright thanks. But with that enormous of plants I think the pods should be given more consideration because it's lucrative here in Nigeria

Till with chicken dung on beds, set free for 3 weeks, then start sow seeds direct or transplant pregerminated seeds. After 6 weeks apply urea, then the urea application is once a month/ 5 weeks once..

How do you store or preserve the seeds if your ugu fruits at the beginning of winter?
@Myfarm67683 жыл бұрын
@Sebastian, I grow ugu in tropic, I do not have this issue. After more or less than 13th weeks ugu will start pod, it will take another 8 weeks to mature. If you have mature pod by November end, I would suggest keep fully mature pod (do not cut) inside the cooler. (About 16°C) for three months (Dec, Jan, Feb), you cut the pod by March and sow.
