Wu Lei's acting is far far far far beyond my expectation. I still can't believe how such a young actor could act deeply only with his eyes, how he stares, how he felt the pain, the embarassement, how he is happy it always reaches my heart never fail, and his expressions are always spot on. I just finished watching the series like a month ago and to this day I still can't move on from it jshjshjs:' I'm actually sad bcs it's not promoted well overseas and some people already had a prejudice against the age gap of the leads. I watched it for one reason. Bcoz I fell in love with Wu Lei in LLT Galaxy. But I didnt expect myself to appreciate NBY so much It has a lot of life lessons and realizations. I always admire how Wu Lei chooses his projects and prepares for his roles. So much respect for him for that. Overall, NBY is done excellently! The scriptwriting was so good. I have been so pleasantly surprised by this drama! I am always hesitant about the older woman-younger man trope. In this drama, it's done REALLY well. The younger man is mature and understands her hesitations. Their chemistry is really great too. I also REALLY love that you can see Wu Lei's facial hair stubble. I feel like I'm looking at actual people, not skin smoothed plastic faces.

The natural acting by both Wu Lei and Zhou Yu Tong is the dramas strongest point .They fit their characters so well and the story flows so naturally, you will forget that you’re even watching a drama. Especially lots of respect for Wu lei for taking on this physically demanding role and grasping the moves of both badminton and tennis. And Zhou Yu Tong’s character and acting is so relatable as the overworked 30 something woman. This is my first time watching her, and I’m super super impressed by her acting. Only thing wrong is she’s too gorgeous for her role maybe as you said😅 her beauty is calming and natural, something which grows on you , a welcome relief from the current standards of cutesy, super filtered white lotus look..Immensely enjoying this drama and also recommend it to anyone.

So true. The way she speaks, her smile, the confidence she generates and the positive vibes she brings in is so Spot on. One leading lady who can talk in her own voice which doesn't make you want to cut off your ears unlike some FL's who end up talking like a kindergarten kid instead of the grown up ladies that they are. Many had prejudices about this drama because of the age gap some are even dismissive saying that they can't feel the chemistry but for me this drama is highly recommended .It has a good plot and plausible acting by the whole cast .You will appreciate each character as they fit perfectly .Wu Lei really has a good eye in choosing his script/drama because most of his drama are worth to watch.Zhou Yutong on the other hand nailed her role too .I loved her in Begin Again and Young Blood .It has the slice of life elements executed well that could pique an intent viewer about life.I love their punch lines . Song Sanchuan and his step-father scenes, definitely one of the many reasons i'm loving this drama.

I’m loving this as well. Zhou Yutong is my go to girl so I’m always gonna check out her projects. her characters feel so real, and she picks them well. it’s hard not to love. It’s a lot of fun to watch her and Wu Lei interact on screen; he’s an amazing actor. I love that is character is mature. Having this kinda plot line with an immature ML always leaves a bad taste in my mouth cuz I can never reconcile what rl grown women would subject themselves to that nonsense. This is drama is just 可爱... you just know that a drama is good from the first episode！！It has everything that we can relate to as normal people struggling in life! I started watching it and suddenly found myself in the 6th episode! I am now in ep 10 and I am enjoying every second watching acharacters as they are growing in front of my eyes with ease!... this is the third drama I watch for Leo wu and he DID NOT disappoint me at all!!! Can't wait to see how this will end.. definitely one of my top Chinese drama so far.

This is a pretty good example of a Chinese drama where great acting and scriptwriting trumps concerns over censorship. For me, Go Ahead, Reset, and Loving, Never Forgetting are some Chinese series with amazing, relatable storylines that highlight deep problems and issues as well as values of common Chinese people without the need for political or explicit scenes. Sometimes we tend to seek daring topics or scenes that we forget to notice the struggles of ordinary people, which, if depicted and acted skillfully, can become masterpieces.

I think she's just as pretty as other actresses and a great actor. Her wardrobe is what usually undercuts her looks. She was in such baggy/plain clothes. Most of the time she had on larger sized clothes than the men. With a few exceptions like the Begin Again drama, Zhou yutong usually has understated costumes. Also, I think she doesn't get a lot of attention because in her everyday look she dresses like a skateboarder (beanies, large tshirts, jeans). Most popular characters and actresses are the ones that act and dress in a cutesy or stereotypically feminine way.

For the first time in modern Chinese drama it did not feel unrealistic. Like over the top dress style, streets, dumb fangirls and most importantly no over acting. The office definitely feels like OFFICE!!! I was sure Leo Wu is gonna be amazing and his efforts just look so real. But I was surprised by FL. I do agree about her overworked look😅 but we can ignore that especially when we can see her amazing efforts. She is really good. Highly recommended.

It's the acting. They are just the best. These two lead actors just captivate you. I have been watching dramas and dropping dramas so often the last few months this is a jewel. You are so correct, any other FL or ML would have made this not so outstanding. Couldn't get into Love Like the Galaxy but 😊Wu Lei is so natural, body language, facial expressions, posture. I like that they address modern women's concerns like the protagonist's sexism at work, her best friend being forced to halt her career because her ex husband left her and the kid, the boss's wife who's dedicated herself into her family only to be ignored and cheated. They could delve into these problems more deeply (but I doubt they will cause of China's censorship), still it's good they're addressing them with some level of respect

So glad you’re watching this! I really love that Wu Lei gets to play someone his age, with so much passion, at the same time an impatience and frustration, and like you said, a puppy. He has the enthusiasm you can only have at that age and the energy and optimism, at the same time he’s sober enough to note that he’s now ‘old’ in sports. His interactions with his friends when they play around really remind me that he’s only 23 lol. I’ve not seen the female lead in anything before but she’s so great. I love the balance they give to each other and that they are approaching the relationship carefully and naturally. The highlight for me was her having to go to the hospital to remove a cyst and deciding not to make a uncertain decision based on uncertainty. That situation hit so close to home and reminded me I’m approaching the age of such a decision, lol. Speaking of which, the writing is so great. I love how through sports we can get analogies and quotes that are so profound. The writers clearly like Wu Lei’s character cause he’s getting the best lines so far. But he delivers them so beautifully. At this point I’ve watched upto ep 20 and up to this point I wasn’t convinced of the director’s son but in that episode I understood why he was cast. I can’t believe it’s his first drama?

I just finished watching this drama and I can say that it has left a sweet taste in my mouth. There is nothing I didn’t like about this drama. All the characters are so likeable especially Liang you an and Song san chuan. Wu lei did a really good job here. The romantic scenes are perfectly done and so are the professional ones. The pacing is smooth and I really really enjoyed this drama. If anyone is thinking of watching it then please go ahead, you won’t regret it.

I haven't watched any because I steer away from sports or purely romance dramas, but I've told people who scoff at the idea that it actually makes sense. Statistically, men have lower age expectancy so in most cases in relationships the one who lived to an old age alone is the woman. Hence why not pick a younger man?

I endorse 100% of what you've said here. I've seen this recommendation yesterday evening, checked it, got hooked since episode 1 and watched all available episodes in less than 20h, without sleeping. In addition to your praising remarks regarding the scriptwriter's knowledge/research of the relations within "the corporate world" (a subtle and permanent sub-narrative plot on bitter rivalry/power-balancing between two executives is actually a source of all objective, i.e., non-psychological, troubles of the protagonists), what is even more suprising is the author's familiarity with "the world of sport". I'd bet the screenwriter is well acquainted with Andre Agassi's "Open", one of the best and most exciting autobiographies I've ever read (and in a similar sleep-deprivating way, couldn't stop reading). Poor childhood with a violent father obsessed with tennis and ambition to make a top player out of his son is a literal alter-ego of ML's (badminton) mother. The same tajectory: Agassi became top player when his father stopped to couch/torture him, only later the trauma would lead him into depression (in NbY, alcohol and drugs' abuse is skipped), a figure of couch with weird ways of teaching is also very similar, even the "switching" element as a way of healing is present, although in Agassi's case, the switch is not between two sports but between tennis agonistic playing and "humanistic" tennis teaching (of children) and couching (of top world players, eg. Novak Djokovic). Highly probably, it was the familiarity with this particular and original sport-psycological story (never transposed into a movie or drama before) to add a huge value, whilst stimulating adrenaline/dopamine-production in the audience (that's why I could cope with the lack of sleep 😅). Thus, should contain a "highly addictive" warning, too. 😄 I also agree that only Wu Lei, his "screen-perforating" overall appearence (handsome yet innocent face, mascular body, strong vigour, athletic body movements...) could impersonate this type of sportsman. The main actress is also perfect, performing two roles btw.: a laborious submissive employee in a (familiar) corporate world which is full of falsity and only superficialy appreciate her, making her unhappy, and a useful problem-solver in an unfamiliar sportive world (her ignorance of ATP tournaments she erroneously pronounce as KTP "ke-ti-pi" is comical), initially ignored but later highly respected, making her happy, free and fulfilled. If we take into account that this drama is basically a romance, the script is a rare multifaceted gem. The variety of problems, subplots and genre-combination (comedy, psychological, female-social, ethical-sportive...) is massive. If the script was more focused on problems than on romance, we would now talk about "Oscar/Golden Globe-deserving" product, even for the performances of the actors.

Just finished watching. If you’re sitting on the fence, then I would recommend it for its storytelling, focus on personal growth. They go into various ‘broken’ relationships and tease out challenges for women, age gap prejudice, professional women, single parenting. All the support roles are awesome too

Really loving all those aspects, especially acknowledging the emotional labor of women, particularly mothers. I think WL & ZYT have great chemistry; I too believe he is great in Nianxia. I don't want him to get type-casted though and the upcoming Blizzard is sure to make C-netz happy since there is still some discomfort with age gap when the man is younger. I love how vulnerable and sensitive Song SanChuan is and its very meta. I keep seeing references to The Long Ballad - Eagle coffee & those birds i will never reconcile with in this lifetime - and even the CP references with Liang Tao is very much straight from the headlines as it were.I saw a cujo/football match like TLB today in a gif as I'm waiting to watch eps 😂 20 & 21 until tomorrow. The spoilers are too much with this company! Beware!

This is the first time I learned of Ms. Zhou Yu Tong ... she's impressive in this drama although I can't feel the chemistry between her and Leo Wu. For me, it sounds like they have chemistry because it is what the makers and fans suggest. Leo Wu can indeed act ... he is sooo believable and convincing as a tennis player and a young passionate intelligent man pursuing what he loves most.

I agree that the look of the drama is uninspiring. The sports clubs are drab, lightened up a little by the parklike surroundings when they're outdoors. But, a special shout-out to Sanchuan's home with his father. I just love the atmospheric, serpentining alley they live on, which is usually crowded with people shopping. On rainy nights, when the alley is empty and lights shine on the wet pavement, it's even more beautiful. And I love their strange home above the wig shop, with the outdoor passageway where they often eat dinner. I look forward to all the scenes set in or near their home.

Lol, yea, they can’t just change from badminton to tennis that late lawl. Sure, they are both racquet game, but one is about never let it touch the ground, and one is about keeping it grounded! Plus the weight difference 🙄
