Life is so magical and it's what you do with it that counts and you have one life to live. The parents giving their kids this once and a lifetime opportunity is so special. Kudos to the parents to follow your dreams and show your kids what life can be, they will forever remember. Your children will grow up to be strong minded with a can-do attitude. Hi Renee, Try using fresh soil (not recycled) and don't put them outdoors if they are going to get drowned by rains or cold. Put them in a sunny spot indoors and keep them well moist in the beginning. Fertilize. Good luck! You may need to start with fresh seeds or plants as well.

Hey Mrs. Renee, I'm from Louisiana and grew up on a farm (hated it back then, but grew and ended up having an unintended green thumb) Anyway, with your plants, I assume you're doing some herbs it doesn't really matter however this information is good for vegetables as well. Anyway considering your situation this may help. Get some quality potting soil, and some cow manure and mix it 1/5th overall, you can do this by the bag in by the potting container, doesn't matter, I find it's easier to just mix the entire bag of potting soil and reserve whatever isn't used for later. There is some time-released fertilizer you can use they are little round balls and you sprinkle in the appropriate amount for the size pot you have, in those it would be maybe 5 total since they are very small containers. If you are planting from seeds, germinate your seeds using a moist paper towel, not too wet, not too dry and place the seeds onto the moist paper towel and fold it over so the seeds are in between two sandwiched layers of moist paper towel, then wrap it in one layer of aluminum foil and place it in a warm environment, onshore I do this on top of the fridge, in your case may be one of the warmer unused or not so full compartments on the boat that stays warm. Let the seeds germinate, depending on the type of seeds this could be as little as 3-4 days or up to a week and a half, once they sprout, put them in an egg carton, or the little decomposing "starter" cups and let them continue to grow, once they get about an inch or two tall you can transfer them into your planter container. One thing to keep in mind is you do not want to overwater them, it will cause mold/fungus and actually kill the plants, too much water is as bad as not enough water. WATER

Keith, I see a lot of remedies already posted here and many mentioned lemons. This truly works, I've done it myself a few times. All you need is 20 lemons and 12 hours of your time. You start with squeezing juice out of first 8 lemons into 8 oz glass and drink it all at once. Then every hour squeeze 1 lemon and add water to the top of 8 oz glass and drink it all at once. Repeat every hour until you used all remaining lemons. You can add a bit of ice to make it easier to drink. This should also decrease your pain while passing a stone as the lemon juice also eventually softens the stone and makes it easier to pass. You can follow this recipe every few months to avoid or to pass kidney stones if they develop again while they are still very small. Someone already mentioned, and that is true as well, try to capture the stone, so you can have a urologist to analyze it and give you a proper treatment for the future. Good luck. All the Best with you journey.

Watching you guys and the fun you have, the pride, love, and joy that you guys have for what you're doing has inspired me to get back into sailing!. I took sailing classes as a teenager and absolutely loved it. My and my fiance have made the plans to buy our own monohull and live life to the fullest on it. We are attending a sailing school next spring summer to refresh my memory and to get her to see what it's like. I've grown up on boats my entire life but she hasn't. Just recently took her out on my dad fishing boat in Buzzards Bay where my family lives. She fell in love with the water fast. Anyway, you guy have inspired us to live life aboard and just want to say THANK YOU!. Keep doing what you do, dont ever stop the videos as we absolutely LOVE your channel and family!. Happy Sailing!.

Recommendation on the plants: I highly recommend purchasing a self-watering seedling tray to get any plant started, but especially garden plants and herbs. I used one this year and had so many successful seedlings I gave some away. After the seedlings have sprouted and grown, following the seed packet directions, transfer them to their growing plot. MAKE SURE to have large enough pots. (you can check online for the required space for each plant type) Most plants take a larger pot that you might realize. The pots you have there are good for a small flower or a small herb plant. They are far too small for a plant like Basil or a vegetable like Tomato, other than as an intermediary pot once they outgrow the seedling tray. Once you transfer them remember to water DAILY. Check online for help with the amount of water. Investing in some kind of automated watering system (there are smaller ones available) can make this job easier, but personally I find that daily checking of the plot (or pots) along with watering is therapeutic and really quite enjoyable. Lastly, do not forget SUNLIGHT. In that window is good, but if the boat shifts and the sun is no longer shining on the seedlings they will suffer from lack of light. If there isn't safe place on deck, then using a Grow light would probably be a good option. You can get LED-based ones that use much less power and even ones that run on batteries. Also, using a white backing cloth or white paper behind the pots or seedling trays helps with reflecting light from the window back onto the plants. Basically a white curtain hung behind the plants so the plant pots are between the curtain and the window (with space to grow) will increase the overall brightness of the plant's immediate surroundings be reflecting a diffuse white light back at them and giving them more light to work with thus increasing growth. If you aren't sure what seeds to get, I had fantastic success with these: www.amazon.com/Vegetable-32-Open-Seed-Vault/dp/B00LE4RGOE?ref_=ast_bbp_dp They also have an herb seed collection: www.amazon.com/NON-GMO-Heirloom-Culinary-Medicial-Easy/dp/B01FRLWDAG?ref_=ast_bbp_dp

If so, it's likely your plants would do better if you move them outside onto the deck for a few hours of direct sunlight whenever possible. Don't give up, once you get your specific growing conditions dialed in, youll be able to save seeds from favorite produce that you buy, and then plant your own from seed! Also, for greens, onions and some herbs, you can regrow from your scraps ;) Hope this helps your lil garden, Renee!!
