What a collaboration! Today, I'm reacting to Måneskin's new song "Gossip" feat. Rage Against The Machine's guitar legend Tom Morello. Tom Morello is an incredible guitarist and Maneskin seem to be taking over the world right now. Can this collaboration live up to expectations? What do you think of it? Is it as good as you'd hope? Is it missing something? Tell me.

To all complaining it's not "proper" rock but pop rock or even just pop (my fellow Italians are especially guilty of this and all too happy, in their unconscious self-loathing, to bash an Italian band who made it big)... no need to be snobs about this. I'm not massively into pop, but if it's well crafted, it has its place in the world. Remember Roxette? People used to sneer about this Swedish duo, but in retrospect their songs have become classics. Damiano David of Maneskin unabashedly admits he loves pop. The others listen to other stuff - classic and psychedelic rock, funk and even jazz (Ethan, the drummer). But Damiano loves him a Miley Cyrus tune. Anything wrong with that? So long as the music is well crafted, there's no need to be purists about it. Fellow Italians, I'm looking at you! Capito? My major complaint though is that they're no longer releasing singles in Italian.

They actually good for making sorta derivative mainstream pop rock mesh up and soon, in their very lucky day, they met Sony, the world biggest and more promoting and influential corporation in music industry Simple and revealing fact, but instead people and kids want to idealize and idolize : Justin, its my opinion, is kind n nice and humorous, he knows how world of music works so he goes on saying " they re good enough " after all. ...

Rammstein are great live. But that's kinda their thing. They need to be a freakshow. They wouldn't make it wiithout the visuals. The best band I've ever seen live was Nine Inch Nails. The energy level at their shows is always really high! I was amazed every time, the guy started the band 20 years or 30 years earlier, and he still rocks out and even gets emotional on stage. Foo Fighters are another great live band. We'll see what they do now with a new drummer...

I love Måneskin! Their music really is getting better and better. I just wish they’d release a single in Italian. It’s like they’re afraid that there will be less appeal for songs in their native tongue but some of their best tracks from Teatro D’Ira were in Italian. I think music transcends language anyway, but so many Måneskin fans are begging for an Italian track that I can’t help thinking it’d be just as successful as the English songs. 🥰

In regards of Tom Morello's Whammy facts: he uses one of the old version of the pedal (the modern reissues, according to some musicians, resembled the original sound but not quite entirely) and just removes some rubber under the end of the pedal, so he can reach more precisely the correct pitch. In most of his song the pedal is set to +2 octaves. And yes, is probably the most influencial guitarist of the 90s and he did so much with just a bunch of pedals (whawha, whammy, analog delay and a big ol Mashall).

The charm of Maneskin is that they are imperfect. A visible number of people worldwide embrace this because much of the music industry and its 'superstars' have become manipulative and strategically perfect to the core. For many people, it is like being in this type of manipulative and calculative environment all day, and here they meet simple people who are less of that but are more vulnerable and human. The guys who are in the band Maneskin have a sense of charm, by nature in their own environments when nobody sees or knows them. As long as they don't become manipulative, strategically aiming at domination with every word and move like much of the 'entertainment industry' and their 'superstars', and as long as that charme has a tone in their music still, people will embrace it and go and listen. -

First thing I thought of was 7 Nation Army also. So let's talk about Rollling Stones's top 200 Singers of All Time. How do you leave Steve Marriot of Humble Pie of that list? It would be cool if you and Rick did a remake of that list, or at least redo the top 50. Yes, having Tom Morello ranked at 40 seems a little silly. Maybe do a redo of that list also. The had Joan Jett placed, but no Nancy Wilson. Nancy and Ann wrote some incredible pieces of music, and Nancy can play. Don't know this band. Thanks for covering them. Will check them out.

I’ve never heard these guys. I’ve heard of them, never listened, tho. That riff is pretty good, and I love Tom, so all in all, not bad.

I'm not a fan of Måneskin, but they're good at what they do, brining rock music to younger generations. For those who don't know it, Måneskin is Swedish for moonshine. Though it's not correct Swedish. (EDIT: It's Danish. I didn't even think of Danish.)

Perhaps because it’s actually Danish?

Victoria's mum was Danish. They've said several times in interviews their band name is Danish for moonlight

Of course, the word in Swedish is probably very similar to the Danish word since both languages are considered mutually intelligible...

It is not Swedish but Danish, in their case. Victoria's mother, the bassist, was Danish.

@@Alex_classy1 Månsken in Swedish. So yeah, pretty similar, though no one in their right mind would call Danish "intelligible"... 🙂
