I agree, especially when you are buying the top trim level Rubicon for $55,000 plus! It should be noted however, when you buy the trailering option from Jeep, you get added aux. switches for future lighting accessories and a bigger charging system.

May be a dumb question, but what did you end up mounting the converter to? I never saw that in the video.

I just installed this on my 2020 Rubicon Unlimited. Super easy. I have the LED taillights on my Rubicon and it works fine. Instead of running the black power wire all the way up to the battery I just spliced it into the 12 volt outlet in the back. Easy peasy!

Did you have to do a exit reflash. Wanted the harness from mopar because of the double plugs. Dealer say a reflash has to be done to add any plug and play harness due to extra current being pulled on any model other than a sport s. If it was in stalled from the factory it’s already reflashed.

Apparently with out the reflash it burns out the navigation system due to the pitch and roll sensing. I’m trying to find all info I can to keep them from robbing me of $800+.

Why does it need a power wire..? And hooking up trailers for many many years I’ve never had to run a power wire unless it had auxiliary plug or electric brakes this kit has neither

@@danielfunk5772 Daniel, the power wire is necessary when your vehicle has LED tail lights as they do not have enough power to activate the trailer light wiring harness.

You don’t need to route it there to the if you have a 12v outlet in the trunk. It’s just a waste of time and energy. All you need it’s to tap into the wire with a scotch lock and you’re set

How did you use the 12v outlet and what would I use to do that to tap int that?

Those scotch locks are terrible. I'm currently on my 2nd scotch lock for some aux. backup lights I installed on my Silverado. Soldering is always the best way to go if possible.

I think it's actually just in case the trailer lights work differently and need more power/pull differently somehow

I had this done at A U-Haul on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara and after they were done I noticed my rear camera was no longer working and I couldn’t control my AC temperature with the buttons or touchscreen anymore. Did this happen to anyone? U-Haul couldn’t figure it out so now I’m waiting for the Chrysler dealership to check it out.

Yea, just a power wire, no need for flex loom or anything. Remember, this is a Jeep, it’s gotta be able to go off road. This guy is not a pro. Just tuck it in… no problem.
