Many thanks for the GME tip , saw your next vid and that made me so happy that the el cheapo are .5 (point 5) are not for adult use and you both devoted much time and effort in proving this , all the numbers spoke words thanks for the info ,much appreciated .

I bought the TX6150 tradie pack which contained 2 radios almost identical to these ones you have displayed. Both of them have never really been used and have both developed cracks all over the outer plastic casing. I tried to purchase new covers from GME to repair them myself and was told that I would need to send them in to GME for inhouse repair. This option was uneconomical due to the radios being out of warranty, so they are now just sitting here gathering dust until I throw them in the bin. I hope the new model that you have last longer than the ones that I have. Thanks for the video. Cheers. :)

Very odd! I handle a few for club and personal use and they're holding up great after many years. Sounds like a tainted batch of plastic. How soon did the cracks appear?
@toddsoden21482 жыл бұрын
@@MatFarringtonInfo They started to crack up after about 18months - 2 years. Definitely something wrong with the plastic because they had very little to no use at all.

Hey Hayden!! Video idea for you. Would you please consider doing a 'how to' on echolink? I've used echolink to talk all around the world on VHF and UHF via repeater, and it's a great entry point to big distance transmissions, with low power, particularly for our foundation calls. 73 John, VK2VEX

There are a host of antennas available for 2m and 70cm. hand held radios but what are the options like for the 477 mhz. band? Additionally, is there room on the back of this radio to fasten and adhesive label that says: " Bev and Mick UHF 18"?
@richardkrenn95422 жыл бұрын
I have the AE4026SMA and when I put it on the nanovna I get a resonate frequency of around 440Mhz, the antenna from the radio is correct around 477Mhz. Could you check yours and see what you get please?

Sets itself apart from all the others with one key feature to get more range? The antenna socket? Duplex mode? 5W? Icom, Uniden, GME, Oricom do all that. So I must have missed it. What feature?
@HamRadioDX2 жыл бұрын
I guess the point I was trying to make was you can connect external antennas whereas most of the handhelds, particularly Uniden have inbuilt antennas. I was trying to aim this video more toward people who don’t know anything about UHF CB so they may not be aware of such features
@MatFarringtonInfo2 жыл бұрын
@@HamRadioDX yes the cheaper handhelds have fixed rubber duckies, and they out-number the name-brand 5W models with antenna sockets. But "apart from all the others" is still a bit much.
@andrewjanetzki2 жыл бұрын
@@HamRadioDX I would say that is the case for the cheaper low power handhelds. I’ve got a uniden 5w handheld that I’ve had for 12+ years and it has a detachable antenna with a SMA connector.

TX6150 most powerful CB because it allows an external antenna? GME do make great CB's. I got the TX6600S because it too is um powerful. But also allows scanning a wide range of the UHF spectrum and listening to amateur radio UHF repeaters and the Taxi base stations etc. That was a step on the path to getting my ham license.

Hi Hayden, I want to ask you that what's the best and cheapest handheld radio I can get. I am new to the radio community and it's quite interesting ngl.

Hi mate, no worries at all. What are you interested in UHF CB (no license) or ham radio (licence)

I'm quite interested in ham radio I'm based in Pakistan where I can get ham radios easily btw if any of the models you refer are from Australia or New Zealand it would not be a issue for me to get them I just need a model of a good ham radio from you which can run on most frequencies if you are selling them I would be interested in buying em, thanks.

I have joined the uhf Aussie brigade in part thanks to our lack of reliable mobile phone coverage in rural areas. Here in Australia we shut down our analog phone network so the digital world including mobile phones are reliant on grid power.

Just watched this video a 2nd time and picked up more information. Have been able to locate our nearest non emergency repeater so now to see if it is still active. UHF477 is part of our SHTF plan for grid down situation.
