What I love about Ganyu is that she dresses kinda lewd but is one of the most seiso characters. She's usually timid and soft-spoken, but is stern and strong-willed when it counts. Her JP VA did an amazing job at brining out these points, like she uses her Burst. Although I'm sure the reason why she's the most popular character is cuz of lewd reasons. I have no idea how you guys choose your "waifus," Ganyu is one of the rare examples where I can agree with the community. Usually the character in gacha games with the most fan art is due to how they dress or their character design.

Well, the most fan art is usually due to character design because interesting designs are fun for artists to work with. While I can't speak for everyone, my waifus are chosen for voice actor reasons, character design reasons, personality reasons, or some combination of all 3. For me, Ganyu is a waifu primarily because of character design and then voice actor reasons. I haven't played Genshin past the first week of when it launched so I don't know any of her personality but the black tights and soft eyes are just **chef's kiss**

It ain't impossible for her to be commissioned by HYV. Nagu is super busy with her two light novels (obviously as illustrator) having anime adaptations, just having finished 6 shipgirls from Azur Lane and a new skin for Jackie and still got TWO Genshin art commissions (albeit at different points). Ui has more than enough brand recognition to get a commission for Genshin.

What Ui came up with was actually pretty good. Feels like a comfy casual evening version of the outfit. And her complains about the eyes being different can all be put down to artstyle, same for things like the size of the horns and shape of the bell. Or as someone said, the safe-for-public cosplay version. So I'd say it was fine even before the made a redraw to be closer.
