I truly don't want to sound disrespectful, but I think most Americans are ignorant about the Swedish language and probably have never heard it spoken, only cheesy accents, mostly comedic. I know about Alex's father and you're probably correct about his time in US. He is obviously truly bilingual, which perhaps most Swedes are, so English is very natural. I do love him and enjoy hearing his voice in any language.

Generation Kill is a 7 part mini series about the first days of war in Irak. It's about a journalist who follows a group of soldiers and writes a book about his experience with them. I think it aired last year. You can find it on Netflix or probably online somewhere.

i love both the character eric northman and alex. having read the books i can't wait to see him act it out. it's funny, i haven't watched a recent music video in over two years but after hearing he was in paparazzi with lady gaga (whom i'm not even interested in) couldn't help myself. its rewarding to find an actor both dedicated AND good looking. And it's great to see that he is a straight forward and genuinely cool guy. It's rewarding when fame hasn't gotten to people's heads.

In the books Eric speaks 25 languages, or more. He learned english in the 70s at a community college. He is very diversified. :) Alexander is cool people and so down to earth. What Alan Ball needs to get right next season is to put him in the foreground.

I am no big fan of vampire shows and movies in general,but this one is actually quite good.And as a scandinavian (norwegian) i think it is great that Alexander Skarsgård is one of the two actors that actually made a scandinavian character interesting in a Hollywood production,and not fall into the "weirdo with funny accent chategory".(The other one is Dennis Storhøy,playing "Hergeir" in the thirteenth warrior)

thanks for the info. i thought he probably grew up in sweden. thats just mind boggling to me. itd be like if i learned spanish and naturally spoke it with a spanish accent. wow...i guess thats the best way to learn esp if you want to be an actor. actually if i listen closely and keep in mind he isnt american i can hear a very very very slight difference in pronunciation but thats because i know to look for it. and its not just pronunciation but intonation too is so natural. wow.
