Not everyone in Midlands has a similar accident. People in Stoke don't sound like people in Birmingham, Dudley or Wolverhampton. You also didn't mention people in the East Midlands such as Nottingham for example. Side note, Lemmy of Motorhead was from the Midlands ;-).

Hi Gareth, accents do vary from place to place. Yet somehow there is something that gives you a rough idea of where people come from. I think it would be boring if everyone spoke with the same accent. If I forgot to mention Lemmy, then that was remiss of me - another one who died far too young :-(

You recovered it at the end by saying that if you can get past the accent and l can because l like our UK accents, the people are lovely and friendly in Birmingham. l loved living there and had a great time. It is also the second largest city in the UK. The Midlands is divided into the West(Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, Dudley, Wolverhampton, sandwell and Solihull) and East (Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Lincoln, Northampton and Rutland. Plus their Shire's except Rutland)They completely different accents. Other groups/singer's from Birmingham include:Duran Duran, Dexys Midnight Runners, Spencer Davis Group , Slade, UB40, The Beat and Steve Winwood.

Slade are from Wolverhampton and Staffordshire NOT Birmingham

Yeah and also us East Mids guys all have different accents too, all over the mids (w and E) we have different accents depending in what part we come from

You need to break the Midlands down into the very different areas as one of the other commenters had mentioned. Very different accents Chalk and cheese

Yeah, I get that a lot from other similar videos. For instance, there's not one Scottish accent (compare Glasgow and Edunburgh) but there is an accent that people recognise as generic Scottish.
