Having worked on the Rapier, I can say the Sky Sabre is a big improvement. The Rapier was a battlefield weapon anyway so I'd say it's a big step forward in that capacity. The video does mention the missile will be protecting "British Army assets" so, yeah, tactical but that's its purpose...

I studied maths. The fact is that at certain distance one can 100% accurately predict where the Hypersonic missile CAN go. And then the defesce systen can use this as an advantage to make the target position. It is not possible for Hypersonic so do huge turns in the middle of the flight... its just impossbile, so its path can be predicted with min/max range.

Video title has an error. The Sky Sabre makes no claim to be able to counter Hypersonic Missiles. While it may be possible using that system, its current version would not likely have any sort of reliability in the success rate especially since a hypersonic missile moves many times faster than a CAMM.

I am not aware of hypersonic rockets having those properties and from what I know that is more a property of each individual design. They can be rather stealthy and have high manoeuvring. The zircon for instance can skim to avoid detection then pop up and burn at Mach 7 when it closes on the target. Even if a sattalite does see it it wouldn’t be much helps. Sattalites are not sufficient sensors for targeting also in part due to the latency

At hypersonic speed you don’t chase to destroy it you defend then u are on collision course to it Plus every missile has a range it’ll gradually loose is mobility without any flame plus at such at high speed it couldn’t manuever as good it’ll destroy itself. A small little missle can head straight towards it head on with much more manuever even phalanx 4,000rpm 30mm rounds will shred a hypersonic to bits with the help of the speed of the hypersonic itself simple
