UK Boat Fishing. South Coast wrecking with Lures and Jigging.

A day out boat fishing in February 2016. Wrecking off South Devon. Fishing from my Warrior 175 with lures and jigs at around the 20 mile range at 50+ metres deep, perfect conditions especially for February. Several Pollack to around 11lb ....this time.

Hi Matt, Love the video, makes me jealous.Ive just had my trailer back from the Galvanisers and would like some info of the slipway, location , cost, 24hr water, parking etc. Ive got a19 ft Wilson flyer and getting bored of my local fishing and would like to try something new so local knowledge would be appreciated, thanks

Hi Adrian, slipway is beside the main commercial dock and is free to use. Parking for car and trailer is about £12-15 a day I think. I normally get a year permit. Can be busy at weekends so get there early. Big tidal rip at times. Its a bit shallow 1 hour either side of big low tides. Inshore bassing and cod n pollack on the wrecks.

those two tanks are spare. Ive also changed my inboard ally tank for a plastic 103litre tank. On a really nice day with a good forecast for the next day as well we sometimes go 50-60mile out so need those extra tanks. Ive got another one too lol!

How do you find towing and launching the 175 with the Transporter and what engine/drivetrain is it? (edit: I guess this is a did question looking at your other vids)

Hi Louis, the VW is fine. Front wheel drive 2.0 litre turbo diesel with 140 bhp. Can spin up on the slipway though so not ideal if its weedy or a very low tide.

Hi mate awesome video! I have question how much it cost to have a boat and what do you need to have? Any licence or permits to fish the sea?

I wouldn’t spend less then a 2 grand for a decent boat. Are old boat was 300£ and was total crap. We got a new one for 6k much better! You might want a rod license but I seriously doubt anyone will be checking for them 20 miles out to sea.

Hi Chris, Im afraid I cannot remember the make of that I bought it many years ago! I know it had LEDs in it and was pretty good. I got it online so it may of come from Force 4 Chandlry but I cant be sure, sorry about that!

p o callaghan hi there. The T5 140hp is fine with a 175 with a braked trialer. Id defo recommend keeping the back of the boat as light as possible. Any tackle or fuel tanks should be kept in the back of the T5 or the front of the boat. Extra weight far back will get it weaving...especially going down hill! All in all its pretty ok. I have Ranger 3.2 Auto now and its worlds apart. I even tow my new 7.9m cheetah with it, thats 3.5 tonne with the trailer!

No I never anchor, always drift

Yes, always moving the boat back ahead of the structure, drop the lines down and approach it, fish then back around

benjamin hampton those are the light jigging setups I was using in the video mate. The gear is named in the vid. The rods are by Temple Reef and Jigstar. The reels where Wiki Jigging and Okuma.

Its a Warrior 175, 2001 with a mariner 80EFI on the back. Especially clean as its always trailered and kept out the dirt.
