He mentioned in a story the other day how in a holding cell when a load of inmates attacked another of them the first thing that Wildman did was throw Shaun to the wall and stand in front of him to protect him. True friend indeed. RIP.

I visited Pete in the prison in Quito in 2007 whilst backpacking. Quite an adventure for me. Was there for a good few hours. Heard the whole story. He told me on the "one last job" arrest they had a helicopter flying around the penthouse. Met a few other foreigners on the wing. Pete had a nicely decorated cell after he had an inmate fit a shower and tile it for him, he was loaning DVDs. I bought lunch from one of the foreigners who was running a cafe in the outdoor yard.

@Daniel Caine Backpacking around South America. Got to Quito and there was a notice on the noticeboard in a hostel. Couldn't afford a trip to the Galapagos so me and 2 others gave a prison visit a go. That was back in 2007... Fun times!

Great podcast Shaun, definitely do a part 2 it was just getting going when you cut him off! I understand the strategy but hopefully it will not take too long. American Made book looks really good too, will definitely be purchasing that one along with all the others of your I own. You have been my favourite channel for a while now and I think you are truly one of the best interviewers out there, you know exactly when to stay quiet and listen, exactly how to probe and ask the right questions, and exactly when comparisons to your experiences are appropriate. My sister was shot in a bar in Manta, Ecuador by a drunk soldier as well as two other people. She survived after being operated on a kitchen table to stabilize her stomach and spleen. she was eventually life flighted out compliments of the U.S State Dept. This is after my older sister flew down from L.A California, via Florida via El salvador to Quito to bring blood for her operations. The place is a dangerous place for any body. P.S My sister is now a paraplegic and well at least she is alive. The two other people survived and one has a calastiomy bag the other he is fine.
