After nearly four years of delay, the independent review into the UK’s counter-terror programme ‘Prevent’ has been published. The highly controversial strategy has been slammed by Muslim groups for creating an environment of fear and suspicion around ordinary citizens, who have been questioned in their workplaces, schools and medical facilities as a result.
Instead, the review by William Showcross praises Prevent, highlighting instead the need to counter what he calls ‘bad faith’ actors trying to undermine the programme.
In this episode of The Big Picture, we sit down with Dr Layla Aitlhadj, the director and lead campaigner of Prevent Watch, a Muslim-led initiative representing those impacted by the Prevent programme, some as young as four years old.

Most of the muslim communities in London are radicals and have a geniune hatret for the government and the non-muslim public. So any preemptive mechanism utilised by the security services won't surprise me. Surely they feel helpless with the prevalence of radicalisation in some parts of the country. But don't forget, this is essential for the safety of our communities.

Your misconceptions aside. This legislation will outlive the boogeyman narrative that you parrot here. This is intended to reign in a population that increasingly becoming aware of the nanny state abuses. For example, taxation itself is state theft and mostly because fear of violence compels people to pay their due. Ironically the state demands more than the church demanded their tithes. You're welcome to keep your brainwashed views of Muslims, but please get some perspective on more broader implications of these policies and the mission creep that is typical of British legislation.

It's clearly not hearsay Shawn if non-muslim bodies are also criticising PREVENT. Now they've appointed an outright far right bigot to lead PREVENT review

Unless Muslim umma comes forward saying other faiths have a right to exist and tell radicals to live in peace - reactions of others will always be similar. It starts with the local mosque and it’s preacher and it’s committee

Islam has gone through different continents and wherever it was there have been people of other faiths living side by side whether it be Christians, Jews, Hindus and till this day there are millions of people of other faiths in Muslim majority countries. Come and visit our mosques and see for yourself what is being preached there.

@SeekerofHaqq that's a lie and you know it! Muslims are very discriminatory towards non Muslims. Especially in Muslim majority countries. But you'll deny it, lie about and genuinely believe everyone lives happily in Muslim countries. That's false! And there's countless evidence showing how discriminatory Muslim majority countries are towards non Muslims.

Our sisters seem to like being at the forefront fighting Islamophobia. In Canada you have Amira Elghawaby, Canada's first special representative on combating Islamophobia. In America you have congresswoman Ilhaan Omar. And in the UK you the Secretary General of MCB Zara Mohammed, and this sister here. But seeing that they incline to the liberals, atheists or democrats who support fireworshipping iranian Hijaab burners, and are unable to make a stand against lgbt, then you should not be on the forefront. And if your Niyyah (intention) is to mitigate Islamophobia so that you can co-exist with disbelievers and cling on to their Dunya (worldly materialism and careers), then your Niyyah (intention) is corrupt and you will not be successful. Rather if you are fighting to make La ilaha illa-Allah and the Sharee'ah the uppermost, then there's nothing wrong in women ambassadors against Islamophobia or advisors. But being a congresswoman and legislating disbelief, then neither have you helped Islam or Muslims but only harmed your ownselves and your Aakhirah and brought trials to the Ummah. Therefore, if you are not fit to be firm upon the truth in circumstances when you are tested with your Faith, then do not overburden yourselves O dear sisters. Allah ﷻ does not burden a person beyond what he or she can bear. Let others do such jobs. No good has come out from those lgbt tweeters. If you are best in surgery or dentistry, then being a minister for the surgeons or dentists as a woman is fine. But as for these stuff of confronting the disbelievers, then you should leave it to the men. Because the disbelievers will not take you as friends, except after you lied about Allah ﷻ and tweeted about lgbt. And if you are firm on the truth and against their values, they will drive you out of the land. Such is the Sunnah of Allah ﷻ with His Messengers. So our dear sisters, are you up to such levels of trials? If not, then re-consider taking these leadership roles. These Ayat are a testimony that Rasulullah ﷺ fulfilled his mission and that the Qur'an is intact and that the weapon of strength that Allah ﷻ gave him was the Five Daily Prayers and Tahajjud. So are you fulfilling that? Are you willing to follow in his ﷺ footsteps, or will you sway from here to there once the Fitan (trials and temptations) come? O you who believe! If you obey those who disbelieve, they will send you back on your heels, and you will turn back (from Faith) as losers. They wish that you should compromise (in religion out of courtesy) with them: so they (too) would compromise with you. Verily, they were about to tempt you away from that which We have revealed (the Qur'an) unto you (O Muhammad ﷺ), to fabricate something other than it against Us, _and then they would certainly have taken you as a Khaleel (an intimate friend)!_ وَلَوْلَا أَن ثَبَّتْنَاكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْئًا قَلِيلًا And had We not made you stand firm, you would nearly have inclined to them a little. In that case We would have made you taste a double portion (of punishment) in this life and a double portion (of punishment) after death. And then you would have found none to help you against Us. And verily they were about to frighten you so much as to drive you out from the land. But in that case they would not have stayed (therein) after you, except for a little while. (This was Our) Sunnah (rule or way) with the Messengers We sent before you (O Muhammad ﷺ), and you will not find any alteration in Our Sunnah (rule or way). Perform As-Salat (the Prayer) from mid-day till the darkness of the night (i.e. the Dhuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers), and recite the Qur'an in the Fajr (early dawn, the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels). And in some parts of the night (also) offer the Salat (prayer) with it (i.e. the Qur'an), as an additional prayer (Tahajjud) for you (O Muhammad ﷺ). It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqam Mahmud (a station of praise and glory, i.e. the honour of intercession on the Day of Resurrection). [Al-Israa' 17:73-79]

Have integrity O Muslims. The western Sunni Muslims are a new and unique people. We could set up an online government, become members at the OIC, then negotiate a piece of land with a Muslim country, and use the Islamophobia to generate billions in funds, and with it construct a new country for the western Sunni Muslims where you'll have all the dunya you're clinging onto among these disbelievers who are our enemies. Think about my proposal. Why bother trying to make impure polytheists like you? What is the objective, is it really so that you want them to like you, or is it not for Dunya? Would you have bothered with this if you had the Dunya you covet in a new country for Sunni western Muslims? So why not use your wits and energy seeking that? Where you don't have to see a crossworshipper, or a zionist or pagan cow worshipper or lgbt and atheists near you? Who cares about what a kaafir thinks? You are under a heavy dose of Al-Wahn. And if you continue on this path, you will not pass the Fitan of the Dajjal. Even if you do not live to see him, still the trials in the grave are at the level of the Fitnah of Dajjal. Only the Shuhada (martyrs) are exempted from those trials in the grave, because the flashing of swords were enough as a trial for them. Meaning they were truthful in Eemaan (Faith). Their Ruh (souls) go straight to Jannah. Whereas everyone else will be interrogated by the two frightening angels Munkar and Nakeer. In our times it is bullets and missiles.

Maybe you don't see Muslims men at the front, is because most of them are busy arguing with women's dresses, if she should work outside her home, blaming feminists for the way the world is, and forgetting that we are living under patriarchy world ,men are the ones making laws.

@@anonymousanonymous870 In order to mitigate the betrayal of women, then the worldly interests for women should be accommodated for her in a Halal way. Women are allowed to be advisors. Hear me out. Because we need to protect her from betraying us, because the disbelievers give her all the materialism and leadership positions that she covets until she interprets that as way to adopt their corruption just to have a career or worldly interests. We have to mitigate that betrayal so that she doesn't interpret the reaching of her worldly interests with uncovering her adornments and liberalism and atheism. That's why we need a new country from scratch for the western Sunni Muslims. And in that new country, before we establish it, we will train how to govern properly in an online simulation country app, just like pilots have simulations. Governing requires more training than flying a plane. I would've divided the knowledge into two groups, Islamic knowledge and worldly knowledge. And then each branch of knowledge having it's own sub branches. For example 'Aqidah is a major branch, while it's subranches are Tawhid, Da'wah and comparative religion etc. And a major branch in the worldly knowledge is something like Medicine, while doctors, surgeons, dentists and nurses are sub branches. And then each knowledge having criterias and exams set up by the scholars in those fields, and only those that are eligible to candidate for the ministry post of the dentists, are none other than the dentists that passed those exams and criterias. Democracy that allows the most ignorant to govern by way of beguiling the ignorant masses will not be allowed. Even the corporate world doesn't allow it. Apple doesn't say: _"Let all the workers vote for the CEO?"_ The one who says: _"I'll hand each voter a million dollars,"_ would've surely won, and the company would go bankrupt. Rather it is a competent board, similar to our Ahlul Halli wal-'Aqd system who appoints the CEO. Democracy creates racism as that's the easiest way to generate votes, it divides the population and brings hate and incompetent people into positions of authority, nothing gets done until the country goes into a civil war as we are seeing with the u.s right now. But with my enhanced Ahlul Halli wal-'Aqd system, it only gives the eligible people authority, and no one is wronged. If you have the knowledge, character and passed the eligibility and then your peers that passed too appointments you all the way to the ministry position, then so be it. You'll only have to convince your peers and not the masses who have no understanding of your branch of knowledge. So let's say 1000 dentists passed the exams and eligibility criterias. These will appoint 100 from among themselves as representatives in the Majlis (assembly) of the dentists. Those 100 in turn will appoint 6 as the Ahlul Halli wal-'Aqd of the dentists, and those 6 will appoint the minister of the dentists. Why? Because the community of dentists know who the best dentist among themselves is. Now, if the Ahlul Halli wal-'Aqd of the dentists appoint a woman as the minister of the dentists, then there's nothing wrong with it. The leader of the land will bring her to the national tv if a tooth epidemic has occured in the land. And she can be the chief dentist on his government. We should take the average length of the Caliphs and Sultans that ever ruled, and make that into the lenght of his rule. Because ruling a life time could lead to corruption. 8-10 years. 'Umar Ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه was Caliph for 10 years. And 2 years where he is tested. If someone disagrees with this, yet is ok with having monarchs and dynasties and nepotism, he has to explain himself. Same system with all the knowledge, whether it is media along with it's subranches like journalism, anchoring, Halal movies, social media. Or construction and its sub branches like carpeting, blue printing etc. The listing should be done by the ministry of archiving and putting things in order. Meaning, people will work for that ministry to archive things and put them in order. Once all the Islamic knowledge and worldly knowledge are listed along with their sub branches, then all of them will have ministries and their own assemblies. The branches of government should be four in number. And I have a template for this actually. 1. The Islamic Knowledge and all its ministries. 2. The worldly knowledge and all it's ministries. 3. The path to becoming the Ameer, I call thos one the ministry of the Mosques. 4. And then the courts. The highest ministry of the Islamic knowledge should be the Council of the 'Ulema (scholars), similar to how Saudi Arabia has the Lajnah with Shaykh Fawzaan and 'Abdulaziz Ãal-Shaykh حفظهما الله who issue Fatawa and protect the land from fasad, and the Lajnah will appoint the Mufti among themselves. So all the ministers of all the Islamic branches of knowledge, from 'Aqidah, Fiqh, Qur'an, Hadith etc. These ministers will have their own Majlis where they appoint the Lajnah. And then the Lajnah will have their own Majlis where they appoint the Mufti. And the ministry of the Mufti appoints the judges. These are only for men. Same with the worldly knowledge, all the heads from the ministries of medicine, construction, trade, it, communication, physics, math etc. These heads will appoint a worldly type of Mufti among themselves. And that ministry will appoint a similar type of judges, that issue rulings if one parks his car in the wrong place, and the amount of fines, or the rules and safety in traffic. And women should be allowed to participate and reach the highest levels in this world. Anytime a new knowledge pops up, an assembly and ministry could be created for it. As long as that knowledge is beneficial and allowed by the ministry of Fiqh and gotten the stamp of approval by the Fuqaha and Mufti, so that these communities grow. In this way companies and businesses will grow too, and the path to knowledge will be highly organized and everyone will find what world he or she is interested in. After years, we might even get polymaths that have mastered all the knowledge until they become the Ameer of the land. And the ministry of street planning, construction and architecture will get together and work with the ministry of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) to accommodate women with transportation, work places and universities where they do not see strange men and are safe. This way she can pick to be a housewife or have a career while she has the opportunity to worldly education, interests and independence in a Halal way without betraying us to disbelievers by imitating them in dress or beliefs just because she thinks that this is the only way she can have Dunya. Thereby mitigating her trials. Also surveys on how much a person is into the dunya vs Akhirah. The bare minimum will be that all must pledge to practice the 5 pillars of Islam and stay away from major sins in order to get citizenship. Then if you are interested in competing with NASA to Mars, or live like a Zaahid (ascetic) person who is off the grid, or anywhere between those two, we can set up towns based on such preferences were like minded will settle. Also surveys on whether people want to live with their ethnic or tribe or if they are more interested in like minded people due to similar understanding in Deen or Dunya issues. Then people can relocate to whichever community they like if they ever have a change of heart. And the ministry of marriage will be set up, and provide licenses for married women so that the bachelorettes only get such privileges by getting married and so that it protects them from lesbianism once they have a parallel world for themselves, and so that it protects the young men's chastity. If we do not do this, then I'm afraid that these women will follow the Dajjal in an instant. And also underground bunkers or inside mountains that can sustain life for hundreds of years when the Dajjal appears. Because not everyone will be able to make to Al-Haramain.
