I'm glad I don't drive
@DraftySatyr2 жыл бұрын
ALL of those incidents would have been avoided if the drivers pulling out of side roads had opened their eyes. In many of those cases you are doing nothing more than blaming the victim. Yes, we are all duty (and legally) bound to avoid an accident if possible, and that includes driving with due care and attention ("hazard perception"). But when another driver does something so unutterably stupid as to be utterly unpredictable, then there's only one person to blame, and it's not the dash cam driver
@jadesx962 жыл бұрын
@@DraftySatyr Im not saying its not the responsibility of the person pulling out. But accelerating at a hazard and beeping your horn instead of braking makes you no better of a driver than the person who caused the accident in the first place.

@stuhodder2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with it being her fault. From her side of things I bet she was expecting the audi to just take off down the road rather than cut across it. Also sounds like she knew the person so wanted to let them out. Still partly their fault though!
@JM-ik3io2 жыл бұрын
Almost had the same thing happen to me a while back, coming down a long straight 60mph road, someone turning left from a junction on my left, was probably around 15 seconds off her, plenty of time for her to pull out, and the road ahead of me was clear and she started creeping. About 10 seconds off I flashed her out and started slowing down as she was already part way out of the junction, she continued creeping but was now half way out the junction and blocking my lane. 5 seconds away I start really slowing down and flash her again. She just stops dead in her tracks, next thing you know I've had to slam the breaks on and nearly end up with someone in the back of me, luckily they swerved around me and managed to avoid oncoming traffic. Learned my lesson never to let anyone out.

Great learning tool for both new and seasoned drivers. I've been driving for 54 years and always learning how to be a better driver. My Dad's best tip to me when I was learning: when you see someone doing something stupid or making a mistake, give them courtesy of the road.
@Ingens_Scherz2 жыл бұрын
6:39 That is most definitely "your fault". Never stop to let someone out on a main road. You obstruct traffic flow and create a hazard, you obscure the view of the person you think you're helping, and you put them under pressure to go even though they are not sure if the road is clear - because you're obscuring their view. It was something both my father and my driving instructor drilled into me a long, long time ago: don't ever make decisions for other drivers - because this will happen.
@LeeJMcRae2 жыл бұрын
Your last sentence is total correct, and I completely agree. But, The cam driver isn't making the decisions, using the throttle, or anything of the sort for the driver involved in the accident. The operator of the vehicle is to blame here, the cam car only made the other vehicles situation much more difficult by as you said, obscuring her view and also applying pressure to rush the other driver. On a side note, the other vehicle shouldn't be trying to make a U-turn there too. Not only would a driving instructor give you a bollocking for that, and doing so across 3 lanes, but to add to it that she could barely see anything to make the maneuver even remotely safe....
@Freerider19722 жыл бұрын
Not only that you encourage people to do stupid things. Rights of way are designed for a reason, deviate from them or encourage others to do so and accident will happen.

As the bike crashes you see an L plate. Clearly a learner who hasn't learnt the rules of the road yet. Do bikers not need to pass a theory test before they ride? Because in a car, a learner driver has to have a fully licensed driver with them but obviously you cant do that with a bike. So what? They just let yobbos out to do whatever they want?

I'm always shocked with those kinds of clips at the amount of people that are in close proximity (up to 5 or 6 cars back) to major and possibly fatal accidents, especially the ones on things like dual carriageways and motorways, that just slow down a bit to have a good look and drive on past. The BARE minimum that they could do is put their hazards on as they drive past to warn drivers behind them that there's a hazard up ahead! I honestly don't know how they can simply drive past. Even if I wasn't involved but I saw an accident happen in front of me, I'd pull over (somewhere safe if possible) without a second thought and see if there was anything I could do to help. Even if that's just giving any non-injured passengers from the vehicles involved somewhere warm and safe to sit in my car whilst they wait for the emergency services/ recovery. I like to think that the majority of us would hopefully do the same and not just think "meh, someone else will make sure everyone is okay and call the emergency services if necessary".

I like this type of comments. Means you have absolutely no idea what are you talking about. Dash cam lenses are so called 'wide angle' lenses to cover much larger area than a normal one. What it means on a video - you think objects there are much further away from the vehicle fitted with a camera. Ergo - driver has much less time to react that you think (if you think at all). Blabbing, that these were avoidable is a complete nonsense. I would agree that some percent of these WERE avoidable but 5% to 10% at the most.
@UKMonkey2 жыл бұрын
@@novtalath I like these kind of comments - because it shows you've no idea what you're talking about, and you completely miss the point. Moving your foot to the brake is faster than pressing your horn, the other driver looking around, realising it was them you were beeping at, and then if you caught them on a good day, working out they're going to brake. If one is pressing the horn before ones foot is on the break, then defensive driving skills need to be improved. While doing that - in many cases, one might also be more aware when approaching a hazard, and already be slowing down; rather than just gunning it because right of way is had. Breaking then honking reduces the chance of the crash, and at worst, makes the impact less. Exceptions are obviously when NOT so close to the other driver, that they have a chance to react. For example - 24:56 - the break is applied, then the horn. There's no point at all using the horn, because after slamming into the side of the car, one can be pretty sure they're aware that they're aware they've been hit; and they're not notifying anyone of anything other than their anger.
@LOOKINVERTED2 жыл бұрын
In caskerbang's defence he said 'how many' of them (not every single one). There were clear and obvious situations where the driver, though not initially at fault, ends up causing an accident when it likely could've been avoided. Some could well be due to the optical illusion you mention caused by the wide-angle lens (they were much closer in reality, I get that) but I could point to a fair few where it looked like the driver getting punked then hit the punker on purpose to prove his / her / their point. Granted we're ready and waiting for an accident when watching these, so are on full alert so it's much easier for us, 'in hindsight' so to speak, to judge who's at fault but if nothing else it proves we must be on high alert at all times - never take your attention away for a split second. Easier said than done but a good lesson.
@novtalath2 жыл бұрын
@@UKMonkey You have read the comment... and understood absolutely nothing. Well done. Now go back and read AGAIN and this time spend some time THINKING of what have you just read. Then you MIGHT come to a conclusion that what I have wrote actually makes sense. If you still missing the point - then so be it. Not everyone has more brain cells than average person. I do have a dash cam. You do not see me posting vids because I have some dignity left in me. I do agree that pressing break is faster than using horn yet still some people need that horn otherwise they will continue moving in and definitely cause an incident. You have picked one situation in that vid but miss the bigger picture. As for use of the horn - if some dickhead drives straight in front of you and you have to break and let's say you do use horn - I am sure they don't need to look around on who is using it as they are aware that they are a twat that just not gave way to another vehicle. I would not be surprised if you were one of those that silently use the horn on every possible occasion just not admit to it. And if you will come up with some rubbish about being an advanced driver - spare it.
