Part 6 of 6 parts of a full UK driving test video from LDC driving schools (www.learnerdri...). These videos form part of the revolutionary LD System. The LD System video programme is used in conjunction with the LDC driving skills workbook. These resources together with guidance from an expert LDC driving instructor provide one of the most effective and efficient ways to learn to drive and become a safe driver for life.
Too many driving instructors focus too much attention on telling their pupils what to do and what to think! This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly and thoroughly.
Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection rather than being told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves - to become good decision makers.
If you would like to learn this way visit:
www.learnerdri...
If you want to see a wide range of videos on learning to drive, the theory test and the driving test please look at our KZbin TV channel click LDCDrivingSchool above or the link below:

Call 0800 400 777 if you would like to book a residential driving course with LDC in Pontefract followed by a driving test. As you can see Pontefract is a nice quiet town and as such is an ideal place to take the driving test. Pontefract is in Yorkshire close to and between the cities of Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster and York. Direct trains go from Kings Cross London to Pontefract and take about 2 hours. In the video you can see Learner Driving Centres main offices and training centre.

With a strict examiner like this one, its no wonder the pass rate is only 35%. Even an experienced driver like me could easily fail this even with preparation. Good on the candidate and all those are able to make it through this first time.

Yeah that was absolute bollocks to mark her down there. You always slow and crawl at a junction, not just fly out
@aurelijus1
@aurelijus1 10 жыл бұрын
Kevin Foh Exactly, ''crawl'' but not completely stop, unless it's completely necessary(stop sign, car in front, red light, pedestrian crossing, or just to many cars, and there is no more space to crawl) on the road. You always need to try crawl, before every turn you take, before traffic lights, roundabouts cause you want to make a progression all the time, only dead stop, then there is no other choice, or told by the signs. She was okay at the start 1:53-1:55, before turning, but then suddenly completely stopped at 1:56, and went into another gear, whilst she could had easily continued, doing what she is doing, since the road was clear.

Well Done for pointing this out. This had me stumped for ages. Either the examiner and the video is wrong, or the only thing I could think is, perhaps it was a one way road? The view was only obscured from the right, but if its a one way, she only has to check the left and so would not have to come to a complete stop. Still stupid to give a minor here tho imo.

I see a few people disagree with fault 4, 'stopping unnecessarily at a junction'. I disagree too because it was barely a stop, more an incredibly brief pause which would in no way have caused danger or inconvenience to anyone. If I were to mark her down on this particular junction I'd put it down as slightly poor observation on approach, which necessitated the brief pause. When Examiners mark down young inexperienced drivers, or fail them, on items like this it sends out the wrong message entirely.

7 could have easily been a fail with another examiner. She was so hesitant and didn't build up enough speed to merge on to the dual carriageway. No way she was going faster than 30. It seemed like she even planned to slow down. She went for the gear change, but didn't go through with it. It did take the lorry driver too long to move over, though. She was obviously apprehensive of that. I thought 4 and 6 were harsh. Especially 4, but it seems like a lot of people agree with that. The rest seem pretty fair minors. It seems like it was completely ignored that she didn't signal when she moved off during the test. There were 4/5 times that she was asked to stop. Each time she moved away, she never signalled.

@@zcharged8294 No, when stopping for a moment to make sure that nothing goes, even if unnecessary, it can not be a mistake! it's just more safety - if any car don't drive on behind , and she don't too hard braking on the crossroads - it's not a danger for anyone... I don't understand many more decision - "Misjudgement of speed of approaching vehicle"... where? which one? ( If there is no "stop" sign, you CAN drive if its clear and safety ! just so you all know for fault 4 I understand why your unhappy with the minor fault, but it comes under the undue hesitation part of the test if she approached at the correct speed about 5 mph she could have seen the road was clear and moved out into the junction as it was what they would class as an open junction she had vision left and right as she approached the end of the junction and as it was a give way not a stop line she did not have to stop or slow to a stop as there is nothing to give way too on the adjoining road :) hope this helps clear up that fault for you
@BMC_182
@BMC_182 9 жыл бұрын
What about appropriate speed when she was going over the speedbumps? She must've been going at about 5mph and they weren't even real speedbumps, just markers on the road. She forced a van to overtake her, which should always be a driving fault in itself. I'd say there were at least 2 for appropriate speed in this mock test, if not more.

One thing I found interesting is the lack of traffic, that meant a lot more roads/motorways to drive down. I did my test twice in Bournemouth and it is equally the same (little traffic, yet loads of miles to drive in a test). I failed twice, the first test I was failed for a silly reason (taking too long to do a manoeuvre, but I don't think so), the second test I can totally agree for being failed (Gear got jammed on a motorway - not really my fault that the gear did not go to 5th when I put it to the right place, but it was a dangerous situation none the less). However for my third test I sat it in London - should be much more difficult right? No - there are much less roads to drive through in the test and examiners know that London is congested and full of hazards in comparison to the area this lady did her test in. I think in places such as Bournemouth (or other areas not so congested) they are more strict as there is less hazards about, so when you do mess up it is less forgivable. Btw yes I passed in London 3rd time round and I had my fair share of hazzards thrown at me. A driver in her own world at the time was driving on the SAME side of the road as me TOWARDS me, worse she was not looking in front of her. I had to do an emergency stop and luckily when she did turn her head around to me, she looked shocked and realised what was going on. I think I impressed the examiner with my quick actions.

I took my test in 2013 (4th time), I was in a queue at a level crossing and the level crossing gates rose to let everyone know they could proceed over the crossing. As I lifted the clutch to get ready to go, a car decided it was quicker to overtake the lot of us and I looked in my right hand mirror and saw the car speeding along and I immediately dropped the clutch again and my instructor was in the back and I put my clutch down as he made an audible "Woah" and apologised afterwards, however because I dealt with the situation with courtesy and calmness and the fact I looked in the right mirror and reacted to the insane manoeuvre the car behind made, it wasn't even marked down. I moved off safely and promptly as the car cleared me and wasn't too flustered afterwards. I think the examiner enjoyed the test, I think I got 5 minors I believe, just some stuff on hesitation, but nothing too bad. Parked up and I secured the car and turned it off and my mind went straight to that scenario that happened at the level crossing and I was like, "Oh Lord, please don't let that thing at the level crossing be my downfall, I don't want to do this a 5th time". He was totting up the minors and he turned to me and the glorious words came from his mouth: "Congratulations, I'm pleased to tell you that you passed". I leapt off the chair, blushed and apologised. He then gave me some eco driving tips and gave me a leaflet on Pass Plus and I handed him my photo card licence for processing into a full licence. He mentioned the incident at the level crossing and he said to my instructor that he was impressed that I reacted so well to the car behind overtaking me from 3 cars back and he felt it would be grossly unfair for him to give me as a result of the incident since I didn't cause it by stalling or anything. That could've easily have been an intervention from the examiner and therefore a fail because I hadn't dealt with the situation properly or something, no such thing happened, I dealt with that scenario that never ever happened in my practice runs of driving with a supervisor driver nor in any of my lessons. It was a stroke of luck that I was cautious and didn't overreact to it happening and tried to rush my decisions. It's so typical that something like this happens on your actual test and never when you've practiced or anything.

Jess McLaren Might be too late for you but it'll help new people, best thing to do at round abouts to avoid hesitation is be on the right gear and lane as you're approaching especially the bigger ones with 40+ mph obviously if you have to come to a stop do so but make sure you step on it without wheel spinning becuase some people come flying round that bend and you'll fail if you go into the round about too slow.

I wonder what you wanted her to do, did you want her to leave the road and fly or what, She had to stop at that junction because the examiner was clearly blocking her view, however the law states that you must stop at junctions when necessary and that's what she exactly did.what if a car came from the left,there's nothing wrong with what she did. whatever actions she took were faultless and appropriate.

Unnecessarily stopped at a junction. The examiner is absolutely correct! I say that because that junction doesn't have the ROAD MARKINGS to either giveway or stop. That marking is to allowing traffic onto the road!? She is supposed to CRAWL. personally, i would complain against the council for inappropriate road marking
@edoardoruggeri1
@edoardoruggeri1 13 жыл бұрын
@katym131 Ah that's bs. The car was like 200 meters away, she had all the right to enter into the road. It's not like you can sit at a junction waiting for no one to pass in an area of 500 meters.

It's hard to see because of the window showing the driver, but there is a road to the right before the main junction. She turns on her right signal before passing this minor road. It's only for a second or two, but it might make other drivers think she is going down that road.

She absolutely would have got a serious on the dual carriageway, if not a dangerous. Her speed was far too slow and the truck was forced to overtake her. How that was marked as a minor is mind boggling.

Omotara Nadi She was far too gentle on the throttle, your supposed to speed up on a dual carriageway to blend in with the traffic, and the cars should drop back or move over to the fast lane to allow you to safely join.

+Uh-Bay A She should have built up her speed and moved out in front of the lorry. If she were going at 50/60 like she was meant to, then she'd be at the same speed as the lorry and he wouldn't have had to overtake her. It definitely should have been at least a serious fault, probably a dangerous fault. Imagine if it were very busy in lane 2 and the lorry didn't have any room to overtake in that lane - she would have either gone in to the side of him or he would've had to take evasive action and hit a car in lane 2. Very surprised she didn't instantly fail for this fault.

Ok, right 15. Signals - Timed is totally wrong. How do you expect a driver to indicate later than that. Indicating at the same time as a junction before hand is absoloutely fine! Thankfully, my examiner wasn't this harsh. It's all fixed.
