The Unglamorous Gardener is on the move again, this time to Yorkshire in UK, to visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Its alpine house is to die for! My book, Journal of an Irish Garden, is available for sale at... www.lulu.com/sh...

Truly a four season garden. Impeccably cared for. The golden-yellow bark of the bare cornus (?) stems paired with those daffodils is stunning. A great time to visit that alpine house, as so many residents were in full bloom. There are some expert hands at work there.

+John OBrien Yes, I was really impressed with the yellow of those daffs picking up the brightness in the cornus stems too. A beautiful garden. By the way, John, if you ever have a few spare moments I would appreciate if you could write a few words review on lulu.com about my book. It is looking quite sad at the moment with only one review. Thank you :)

+Susana1024 Well, we were blessed with a sunny day in March. A relatively unusual event but one that makes winter gardening so worth while. Thank you for watching.

Have always wanted to do a heather garden with magnolias but, alas, it is just a wee bit too cold here for the heathers they become desicated although a few magnolias do well. Lovely alpines, not all that easy to grow though. Loved this. Would love to be a stowaway in your travelling suitcase. Hee, hee.

+Jackie Binkley Well, it's funny you should say that because I dislike heather intensely. However, it is hard not to appreciate its beauty when it is mass planted and in bloom. Jackie, you are a stowaway, via my videos :) Happy Easter!

How wonderful! Very beautiful place! Are those hellebores at 1:13? They are sold in Finland in December as christmas roses. It's hard to keep them indoors over the winter, and they get mites easily (they often come with mites, so I don't even buy them anymore). They look lovely. The blue crocuses are always so wonderful. Oh, the lavender and pink sea of flowers at 3:05 is breathtaking!!! The Alpine Greenhouse has so many beautiful plants, wow! Thanks, Rachel!

+Orchids & a Dutchy Yes, those are hellebores, Andrea, a great garden plant. In this part of the world anyway. I never tried keeping them indoors. That is heather at 3:05 in the video, which I generally dislike intensely. But it was quite breathtaking at Harlow Carr. And, yes, the alpine house - we could all do with one of those :)

Gardening at Douentza Oh, heather? Calluna vulgaris? It grows in the nature here in Finland and we all love it! :) It's a wonderful plant, specially when you see it growing wild in rocky hills, so beautiful!

@GardeningatDouentza8 жыл бұрын
+Miracle Orchids Hi Ana Maria. I know Kew Gardens well as five of the 10 years I spent abroad were in UK. It is a beautiful place but I've no plans to visit again this year. I'm sure you will look around after the show!

Glad you liked the video of these super gardens. I'm afraid I can't tell you what the music is. It's one of the KZbin royalty-free ones.

That looks an interesting place (the 'wrong' end of the country for me). If you spend much more time 'over the sea', you'll be picking up the accent!

+Roger Frampton Ha ha, Roger. Just one more video to come, from my return via Wales. I lived in UK for five years, just long enough for Irish people to think I was English when I returned home but not long enough to fool the English. I think it's well worn off by this stage.
