There was alaso heat damage here, after 37C, but it was on things like Fuchsias and Hebes, and also some Macaronesian plants that come from an area where the temperatures doesn't really go much above 25C. They should all recover fine though.

That's good to hear that there wasn't much damage, it was a shock for the plants, I am sure they will recover soon!

It’s normal when a plant such as the T. rex is stressed for it to cut back on supplying water to leaves. The lower leaves are the ones that die first similar to palm trees. It basically self preserved in order to survive. My T. rex was fine because I watered it thoroughly prior to the heatwave and it loved the sun and out out larger leaves. I’d recommend watering throughly in future and making sure it has nutrients to get through the stress

Hi, that's Ricinus new Zealand purple. It is toxic plant. I have young kids and they are well aware, not to touch this plant.

It can take the heat ,not enough water ,if its 40 c you sould be watering it every day !

Thanks! I have drenched it and fed it well so new growth is looking well. Thank you for your input. Never anything went wrong with plant (I was surprised to see the damage) I have been away for 3 weeks in summer and no water but this has always done well. I think too much heat and lack of water, stressed it
