Serious comment - this was 28 years ago yet this show did more for gender equality than any of the contrived rubbish that is on mainstream television today. The women were fit, strong, feminine and got rough and physical to the standard of the men. Most games were ultra aggressive.

Likewise, look at Red Dwarf, one of the most perfect Sci-Fi comedy series which I just loved it all the while never have any knowledge or conception of what is 'racism' or all these political debates of modern times. Actually yeah, even here in Gladiators I remember Shadow was my favorite as a kid (before all the drugs scandals) where I never met anyone that looked like him or knew anything of the politics, I just thought he was so strong and cool and wanted to be like him.

Following her injury on Power Ball, Lisa Thompson was replaced by Jean Klenk, who was one of only two contenders who was a substitute who went on to win (the other being Dave Walters in the 1999 Champion of Champions).

Lisa Thompson may very well be the unluckiest contender in the history of the programme. Not only was she the first contender to pull out of the competition due to injury, but her replacement, Jean Klenk, went on to win the entire series. Oh, and you misspelled a couple of the contender names in the summary. Jacqui's surname is "Thomson", not "Thompson", and Deano's real given name is "Deane", not "Dean". Just FYI.

Was 59 seconds the "fastest ever" at the point? There was people who did Sub 60 seconds in Series 1, albeit on a different course. But that never seemed to be counted each Season, they always talked about legedns who did it super quick, not mentioning it was BEFORE the Eliminator changed for Series 5 and then again for Series 6.

I think the fastest time ever on this Eliminator course overall was 54 Seconds, I'm guessing they changed the course for Series 5 & 6 because the course being completed a bit too quickly for the producers liking

The series one course didn't have as many obstacles as the series two course. I'm noticing that it's taking contenders longer to complete this eliminator than it took them to complete the one from the first series.

This sort of shows how unfair the competition is. Dean wasn't any better on Skytrack than John, in fact he was worse, but he gets the points because he got Trojan instead of Shadow. It's a flip of the coin. If he got Shadow his backpack would have exploded long before John's.

I went and watched a semi final being recorded. Filming took an entire day as it took anywhere between 30-45 minutes to set up the games, depending on how much equipment was required. By the time the Eliminator came around all contestants would have had a lot of rest and recuperation.

The 6 Games as said are filmed throughout the day and at about 4pm the taping ends and everyone leaves, then an audience is brought back at 7pm and they filmed the eliminator (although our tickets didn't include that :( )

I once was in the audience for Who Wants to be a Millionaire Celebrity Special, and it took 6 hours to film that one hour long episode. And that didn't have all the equipment and set changing that Gladiators does.

Glasgow, Scotland! Why not just write Glasgow, O'Shea? You don't write Aylesbury, England or Kidderminster, England, or Bolton, England. Glasgow is still in the same country as the latter ones, the UK. I suspect more people know where Glasgow is on the map than those other ones and they just get their counties. Glasgow, Strathclyde might even have been OK or Glasgow, Lanarkshire.

She struggled on Hang Tough too, as I recall she was an endurance runner, a lot of leg strength, but her arms couldn't handle the other events.

I remember hearing that Wolf was in his 40s then, and thinking that was "sooo old" 😂😂 Jet always annoyed me, she was full of herself, flicking her hair about..it was a straggly mess 😂😂 Trojan was pointless, he looked the part but was really only good at Duel. I thought Lightning was the prettiest of them all.
