Great show from Wolf against Adam. A rare win on The Wall.... And we didn't get a interview. And again on Hang Tough. Oh an brilliant comeback on Hang Tough by Khan.

And when you all are watching this 1st quarter final of the 6th series 1997, after the new event, Tightrope, Brian Doamekpor had picked up an injury during Powerball with a fractured bone coming from his foot and his leg for a reason and if he couldn't compete 4 more events, then there would be a substitute contender he would be replaced by.... Adam Stretton (a Tony Hall Hotel concierge from Basingstoke, Hampshire but originally from Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire) as a standby from Heat 4, being beaten by Mark Roberts.

This was very tough on Ally, he had to face Hunter twice and Ace, as well as Kahn, but the blue contenders had Cobra and Wolf twice each. I mean they were all good but Hunter was well known to be the best all round Gladiator, Ace was very good too. Wolf was usually around 20 years older than the contenders which somewhat evened the playing field. Tough draw, however it was done.

It was tragedy for Brian Doamekpor to be injured in Power Ball as I'm sure he could've given the Piers a run for his money in the Grand Final and may even have won it. I guess Adam was brought in here because they already found out Carl from Heat 8 had injured himself during the Eliminator which was further aggravated in training, so Gordon was already booked for Quarter Final 3 in his place. I guess this has to do with being Gordon and Adam being the 2 fastest runner-ups in the heats so they won the right to be stand-by contenders for the Quarter Finals.
@ewanellis21766 жыл бұрын
it would have been great to see Gordon and Adam face each other in the semi finals of this series, as they would have given each other a run for their money, but its one of those things, who knows who would have wone this series if all those contenders hadn't been injured

Νotice that it was Adam who replaced Bryan even though Gordon James had a faster losing Eliminator. Looks like before the QFs began they had already decided to have Gordon replace Carl. Carl pulled out early for whatever reason. Anyway, Adam got a second chance and he deserved it. Look how fast he was!

The yellow was removed from the balance beams this episode but why? QF should be harder, not easier than the heats. Actually The Eliminator must not change at all to be fair for the fastest time prize.

It would get even worse in the Springbok Challenge. One of the UK contenders, Jackie Tindall, failed to make it up the rope and needed a stepladder to get up to the platform, but by that point, the South African contender pretty much had victory all wrapped up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5u3enmwZpKjrZY Here's the video of the run, as well as a news article I found about the incident in question. www.thefreelibrary.com/GLADIATORS+left+me+feeling+ropey!%3B+Jackie+pipped+at+the+post.-a061460788

As far as I am aware Jo Newman is currently the only contender ever to enter the Eliminator with 0 POINTS and come out the winner of the event. Though I am sure a lot of it had to do with Paula Nightmare on the Rope Climb, I think if Jo was against another contender that night she would be out at this point. I defiantly think Jo Newman got further than she really should've done but its done now and time to move on.
@davidfearis73356 жыл бұрын
When I said Jo Newman is currently the only contender ever to win the Eliminator with 0 POINTS, it did actually happen in the revival 2008 series where Kevin scored 0 POINTS throughout the night, but still made it to the Quarter-Final after his opponent Gavin was unable to Start the Eliminator through a Knee Injury in Gauntlet.

2 winners that failed to score a single point. I know there isn’t much alternative but I always thought it a little unfair when they brought in a fresh replacement to continue against a contestant that’s already competed several events, especially when they inherit more points and get a lead in the eliminator. But as I said, not much alternative and the show has to go on.
