I was 5 when this series went to air. Blade is just as beautiful as I remember! A real shame the revival never had the same spark as the original, maybe someday they'll give it another try. Thanks for putting these classic eps up!

The revival I think took the wrestling "face vs heel" aspect a bit too far, whereas the original tended to keep it to a minimum and focused on the skill of the competitiors and the gladiators.

I remember watching the reruns of the Austrian Gladiators after the series of the UK one was done for the year.

First time I've seen a version of the Australian series. Gave it a watch because Gladiators was a big part of my childhood in the UK. In general this is fine but there's only 4 games (we always had 5) and that meant no Duel or Suspension Bridge. All I can think is that too much time was wasted which comes at the cost of another event. Good show besides that though.

Yeah didn't grab me the same as the English version. Starting with the theme and spiralling from there. Still, this was a million times better than the American version though 😂

A cougar is still a wild animal, which is what they were aiming for. The OTHER definition of cougar would've been VERY inappropriate to give to a female.

As much as Aaron was a good host i always felt Mike was so much better. Same with Whitney. Mike Whitney was a much better ref then John Alexandar

Agreed! I loved Aaron but he never seemed comfortable. The series comes into its own from this point onwards and only gets better. Such a shame they ended it, but at least we have these series and International Gladiators. The 2008 series can't compare.

It took both Mikes a while to hit their stride. Mike’s interview with Fury after hang tough was awkward to watch. What did he expect her to say? As for Whitney, he was a terrible ref. I have seen him stop games for ridiculous minor infractions and not stop games when the wheels are coming off

Poor editing here. Eg Hang Tough they suddenly change the music to let it resolve as the contestant is falling, it's obvious in those few seconds that they are going to lose.

There has been times when a penalty card seemed rather meaningless, as in Season 3 Heat 2, Cheeta was disqualified and red carded on Skytrak for starting before the whistle, yet she appeared in the next game after Skytrak, Pyramid.

I've just went up to the Series 3 Finale after watching most of the series in full. It seems that unlike the UK series, they use Red Cards mainly for disqualifications (although Mike Whitney doesn't always get the Red Card out) and Yellow Cards for certain penalties for challengers (Tommy Le was Yellow Carded on both appearances when he did Pursuit) and for warnings to the Gladiators (specifically for head high tackles in Powerball, but has been used for other reasons). The penalty cards were never used during John Alexander's tenure as referee.

Lets be real here the red card in hang tough against fury was so unnecessary as Bernadine touch the platform anyway so i can understand fury being mad about that decision

Bernadine would have to actually get on the platform and stay there, without the need to hold on the rings, in order to get points. At the time I sent this comment, I've finished Series 3 (although I got the Team Sports, Army Vs Navy, AUS Vs RUS and The Ashes Return remaining), and it seems that unlike the UK series, they mainly use Red Cards for simple disqualifications (although Mike Whitney doesn't always get the Red Card out), and Yellow Cards for certain penalties to challengers and warnings to Gladiators (specifically for head high tackles in Powerball, but has been used for other reasons).
