We used to go there every year for a dancing competition before they built the new units - this vidoe doesnt even compare to what we used to have to stay in. The same standard of cleaning : ) but with half doors missing even broken window with tape to patch it up. We had to go there for the competition as everything was booked up in the area at the time with so many people travelling from around the world but the craic was mighty (best of a bad situation). Don't get me wrong we were kids and loved every minute of it - I guarantee that my parents though had something to say back then also. When they put the new units in they were lovely (what you are seeing in this video) clearly not cared for though - alwys will have fond memories from Brean sands regardless of the shoddy park

Man, I'm so sad to see Brean Sands like this now. As a kid, my Mom was a single parent, so she couldn't afford expensive holidays abroad. We would go to Pontins Brean Sands every year for a week. This was in the 1990s/very early 2000s. I remember watching WWF Sunday Night Heat there once as a kid when I was obsessed with wrestling. The place used to be packed, and I mean packed. The indoor areas had people always in them, and I remember that amusement hall. It was my childhood memories of a holiday. Now it looks like an abandoned site, somewhere near a Soviet nuclear disaster! It is safe to say that this place is gone for good now it is being used to house workers building a nuclear site. There is no way this reopens in 2026. Very sad to see.

Unhygienic, unsanitary, dangerous, and completely ready to be bulldozed! We made it to two nights before we came back home again. Felt so vunerable. Had strangers trying the locks in the middle of the night, drunken antics, copious vomiting of intoxicated guests outside, broken glass everywhere, mould, grease, faeces, blood, used condoms, dirt and grime! Never ever again will I ever put myself or my son through that again! Cannot believe this place is still going! I will never forgive myself for giving this dump a go!! Absolutely atrocious

Went to a Pontins at Lythem St Annes near Blackpool about 1969, 1970 when I was a child. The chalets of this style were new and ok back then. At the camp you visited in the video, the upgrades such as double glazing and shower have created a ventilation and condensation problem that is very difficult to put right. These chalets do not look to have had any specialist cleaning periodically to remove black mold. Over the years the fitted furnishings look to have failed the test of time. The general cleaning does not seem to include most areas as they are so grotty and filthy. What a mess. The curtains should be replaced by clean ones regularly. The mattresses should be cleaned between occupants and any that are stained with bodily fluids should be replaced. The stained one should be removed and cleaned by a specialist cleaning company or disposed of. The whole camp is very run down and needs much investment. Maybe, Pontin's need to rethink. Maybe think out of the box to come up with a more sustainable business model that is more focused on what people want nowadays when looking for a holiday or a short break.

What they need to do is take down all the mouldy 60"s accomodation & rebuild modern hotel style rooms. I think Butlins is a little bit better but still not to current day standard's.

Butlins is incredible now. They’ve rebuilt hotels such as the wave, wich is my favourite, with incredible rooms, such as the children’s room with TVs, led lights and an oceanic theme and spent HUGE amounts on a new pool with new slides, redone the entertainment, new bowling ally’s, restaurants are amazing and arcades are great too. Everything has been updated wich is why butlins has a 4.3 star rating. It’s such a great holiday. Best I’ve been on in the uk. They also have more outdoor space, such as new parks, crazy golf, archery. It’s So incredible.

I went to Dawlish Warren back in 2009 and it was holiday from hell! When we arrived my Mum asked where our caravan was and the staff member in reception said “It’s over there.” That wasn’t helpful so we had to find it ourselves and when we did the caravan had live wires underneath!! Inside the cooker nobs kept turning and wouldn’t work and the beds were broken and we complained but nobody came. At the entertainment place my sister said it looked like a school hall and we ate there once and I asked for no peas with my dinner but they gave me peas and my Mum wasn’t happy! The staff didn’t know how to entertain children and we heard a man on stage quietly say “what do I do?” And the bingo was crap. And I had a headache and my Mum and Dad were poorly and my sister was fine. We were glad we left and we will never return! Do Not Go To Dawlish Warren!

And of all these years, Pontin's still has filthy outdated accommodation and their camps are still run down. But cable ties to fix a broken swing, that's definitely a health and safety risk! Wtf is wrong with Pontin's? I've been on holiday with Haven, and their accommodation has much better cleaning standards than what Pontin's have! If How Clean Is Your House is still going on, could you imagine Kim and Aggy's reaction if they saw how filthy Pontin's chalets are?😂

Why do they not want Irish people there, I thought that type of discrimination was long since gone.
@kerryquinn71883 жыл бұрын
@@philstaification Yeah, I had relatives and older friends who went over to England to work when things were tough here in Northern Ireland. I knew about the signs and discrimination from around then, I suppose that would have been the sixties and seventies, but I thought that was long since gone. Well I did have a friend who transferred to asda in Newcastle from one here, she was serving a customer and asked him if he needed a hand packing. He heard her accent of course and said, not another bloody foreigner, to which she stood up looked him in the eye and said excuse me I'm British. She only said it to let him know that she was born in the British Isles, we normally don't identify as British anymore and there is sections on forms etc now for Northern Irish etc. I do know that we always feel like second class citizens over here by the government, we're always just an afterthought and unless it effects them we don't matter, but I thought the people would have moved on. I don't know the mainland doesn't want us and the government in the Republic doesn't want us as they can't afford us. I suppose that's why we're strong people lol, nobody wants us. Take care and l hope you get through this terrible virus safely. Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
