I don’t think I’ll ever forgive Cameron and his sidekick Osborne, they really hammered the hell out of the buy to let Market with they progressive tax and on-going legislation - I appreciate your thoughts that you can still make money on it, but by God it’s hard, I’m just happy I’m well out of it now. Ironically, this is exactly the right time where had the private landlord with perhaps the odd spare house that has been left to them been encouraged to stay in the market then they could mitigated some of the problems we are now facing with Available Rented Property - this really could have helped the rented sector. The government actually shafted those people who could have helped them - in essence they have exaggerated the problem. However, like you said, they should’ve carried on building council houses and that would’ve helped great deal.

Management of street lights etc by private companies isn't limited to leasehold. Developers hive this off to management companies partly because new build estates are rarely built to the required standard for local authorities to take them on. A total abomination.

That’s correct. On these estates, there is often a mixture of leasehold flats, leasehold houses and freehold houses. They then have to all pay service charges, which are totally unfair another rip off by the big builders. I would also add that people are paying over the top prices for these houses in the same way that people pay a premium for a new car

Even for politicians? Ask Angela Rayner why she bought her council house despite being politically opposed to the sale of council houses, brought in by Margaret Thatcher. Frank Dobson and many others jumped on the bandwaggon. Is it a case of "do as I say, not as I do"
