Adults cast their votes on Thursday 2nd May to choose who they would like to run things in their local areas, with politicians seeing these elections as a sign of how popular their party is ahead of the general election.
The Conservatives lost 470 councillors in total across England, with opposition parties like Labour, the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party and independent candidates all making big gains.
The Labour Party also won ten out of the eleven mayoral seats.
But Mr Sunak had some good news with the re-election of Conservative mayor Ben Houchen in Tees Valley.
