My top 70's UK punk would include 1. Wire - Pink Flag, 2. Gang of 4 - Entertainment, 3. The Specials S/T, 4. This Heat S/T, 5. The Clash - London Calling, 6. The Jam - All Mod Cons, 7. Tom Robinson Band - Power in the Darkness, 8. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures, 9. Sex Pistols - Bollocks, 10. Pretenders S/T, 11. The Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette, 12. Buzzcocks - Another Music In a Different Ktchen, 13. Adam & The Ants - Dirk Wears White Sox, and maybe Magazine, The Cure, Crass, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Fall, PIL, The Slits, Alternative TV, The Members, Stiff Little Fingers, Stranglers. And some punk-adjacent like XTC, The Raincoats, Hawkwind, The Who, The Kinks, Elvis Costello & Attractions, King Crimson, Undertones. Lots of new stuff to me on your list - being from the US, I missed a lot of these bands - I had never even heard of Cyanide, Animal Games, and some others.

Top stuff! I have most of these from my youth in the 70s when I was in my early 20s. I'm 69 now and STILL have some to get. Going to see Jones,Cook & Matlock with Frank Carter doing 'Never Mind The Bollocks' next Sunday in Glasgow...3 days record shopping in the city. I don't have that London lp but I've got the 'Summer Of Love' 12'' EP. Fantastic stuff and maybe slightly overlooked these days. Rock on,Man!

really good picks, mate. I would say some of them are not punk if you judge by the music but that's just me. My favs of the ones you mentioned are The Clash debut (the British version) Sex Pistols, SLF and The Ruts . My all time favorite punk LP is Generation X's debut (the British version !) IT SINGS!! The Outcasts LP is WAY overlooked. It is terrific and proved you can make a first class punk album without playing 100 mph songs. BTW for those viewers who love The Ruts as much as I do, please check out their Complete Peel Sessions CD or LP. . It is even better than The Crack and that is saying A LOT. Hear me now, believe me later.

Incredibly solid list Joaquim. You and Richie to me get what punk is about. It is not just a specific sound. It's an attitude, stretches beyond categories and specific eras. The Lurkers are one of the most underrated bands. Cure is punk for sure early on. To me punk & early goth are entwined for sure. Nice one putting the Swell Maps in there. Outcasts I only discovered last year through a great comp. Great stuff mate!

Great selections, and a well deserved number one, a historically significant album. Stiff Little fingers 'Inflammable Material' sums up the feeling of the fear and anger of 1970.s Northern Ireland, I also still have it, it is the first album release on Rough Trade Records. You are right The Cure debut is punk, and has a brilliant cover, when released the appliances were up to date, now they would be in a museum. Thanks

I'm sharing a pint with you right now. Bottom's up! Check out The Humpers version of "Another Girl, Another Planet". What the Cure did to punk in the 70's and early 80's, I feel Sonic Youth did the same with later 80's and early 90's. Is it punk? Who cares. Influential to us nonetheless. X-Ray Spex still sounds fresh today. Amazing! I will take the Clash's debut over "London's Calling" any day. If you like anarcho stuff like the Crass, check out Crisis (they would eventually become Sol Invictus). I was wondering if the Pistols were your #1. 😊 Cash for chaos! Easily one of the first punk records I ever bought. Probably listen to that once every two or three weeks. Great show! Cheers!
