Hello ! I like how much you try to understand the content and the context, in a very smart way. "Bande d'incestes" could translate to "a bunch of incestuous children" , as he talks about stereotypical countryside France. Josephine Ange Gardien is a silly - feel good old TV program (like 90s) for the stupid housewife he mentionned. You are right, parts of this song is frustrations and parts of it is his suicidal character in the song, so that's why everything is generalised, everything is bleak, there is no hope. I, for one, would love for you to keep on going in French "rap conscient" if you like it, of course. Orelsan is a good name for that (and he is also very funny in a british humour kind of way, you can check Défaites de famille) but in France, conscious rap most thrived (?) in mid 90s to mid 00s with bands like IAM or NTM (the two major ones). You might appreciate them. You can also check Kery James. You will get French viewers from these sounds because we do love a bit of social critique (^^) and even old school girls like me will follow a fresh youngster like you. I subscribed, good job !

At 4:58 he tell that, before, in France there was a lot of incest. At 11:40 Joséphine Ange-Gardien is a famous french series. I think this song deal with the death of our society due to all facts wich are mentionned in. (I hope my English is understable)

The Sirens' Song • 2011 Social Suicide Lyrics of Social Suicide by Orelsan Today will be the last day of my existence The last time I close my eyes, my last silence I have long sought the solution to these nuisances It now seems obvious to me No more being a photocopy No more monotony, no more lobotomy Today, I will neither wear my shirt nor my tie I will not go to work, I will not lend a paw Goodbye, office workers and their well-ordered lives If you could mess up yours, that would suit them It would take up a little space in their narrow brains It would comfort them in their mediocrity Goodbye, chubby representatives Who never drink water, like if they didn't want to get wet Salespeople who smell of aftershave and cassoulet Put mayonnaise on their briefcase, they'd eat it Goodbye, goodbye, old senile accountants Goodbye, stupid secretaries and their sterile discussions Goodbye, young executives who have just graduated Who would pile up corpses to get to the top Goodbye, all those big CEOs Try to open your golden parachute when you get thrown out of the window They make their money on desperate employees And play the frightened virgins when they get kidnapped All those sons of someone, those sons of a snobbish whore Who share three-quarters of the world's wealth Goodbye, small bosses, those bourgeois rednecks Who scrape together RTTs to pay for their vacations summer Goodbye, workers, these expired products It's the law of the market, my friend: you're only good for getting fired That'll stop you from fattening up your horrible kid Who'll get jumped by a fireman, who'll end up a hairdresser Goodbye, the countryside and its filthy families So close to the pig that they catch foot-and-mouth disease All these old ladies, these gossips who eat each other These old tightwads and their penny-pinching savings Goodbye, this deep France Deeply stupid, greedy, useless, putrid It's over, you're a century behind No one needs your incest gangs anymore Goodbye, all these pretentious people in the capital Who try to prove that they're worth better than you every time they talk to you All these assholes in advertising, in finance, in PR In TV, in music, in fashion These Parisians, never happy, gossipy Falsely cultured, barely intelligent These replicants who think they have a monopoly on good taste Who look at the Province with a contemptuous eye Farewell, the Southerners, stupefied by their scorching sun Their only goal in life is the third half Welcoming, supposedly, they fuck you with a smile You can see it in the way they drive Farewell, Farewell, these new fascists Who justify their shitty lives with racist ideals Became a neo-Nazi because you had no passion Instead of playing the SS, find an occupation Farewell, the piranhas in their suburbs Who don't see beyond the end of their hatred, to the point that they eat each other Who become aggressive, once they are twelve Alone, they would not lift a finger in a thumb fight Goodbye, average young people, the worst of all These idiots can't stand the slightest little jolt Goodbye, the sons of bourgeois who have everything, but don't know what to do with it Give them Eden, they make Hell of it for you Goodbye, all these depressed teachers You've failed your own life, how do you plan on raising my sons? Farewell, the strikers and their CGT Who spend less time looking for solutions than for broken slogans Who whip the defeat of the tracksuit in the face Transform any demonstration into a village party Farewell, the journalists who make the images say what they want Would sell their own mothers to sell a few prints Farewell, the housewife in front of her screen Ready to swallow the shit that is thrown between her teeth Who does not ask questions as long as she consumes Who is not even surprised anymore to be beaten by her man Farewell, these right-thinking associations These dictators of good conscience Very happy that they are wronged It is the one who will condemn the strongest Farewell, repressed, overexcited lesbians Who seek in their femininity a reason to exist Farewell, those who live through their sexuality Dancing on carts, is that your pride? The Care Bears and their rainbow power Who would have me believe that being straight is old-fashioned So, so touchy To prove that you're not homophobic, you'll soon have to suck guys Goodbye, my Nation All these incompetents in the administrations, these kings of inaction With their buildings that make you want to vomit Who purposely open at times when no one can come Meeeeah! All these pathetic sheep Change a function in their software, they'll be technically unemployed About the same IQ as those filthy cops Who don't know how to construct a sentence outside of their filthy lines Goodbye

I beg your pardon...? This is soooo different. Please, let's speak about Edward's monologue, such a hearth breaking love declaration to the city he his compelled to leave, going to jail... Every word spoken by Edward Norton must be heard from the distance, by sensing his mood, his tone, and the context he is immersed in. He does not hate his surroundings: he loves the city.

Line about incest is that in deep country side y'know, there was a lot of incest going on. Y'know like picture the appalaches in the USA, it's a bit like that. Poor families that didn't really go to school and such, it's just well, old fashioned traditional deep country side families
