I think her message does come with a caveat that as long as you're not harming anyone else, you do what you want to do.

My wife absolutely loves, Kasey. I got her tickets for our anniversary a year or so back and she's amazing live! - Ian

You can't please everyone. I came out as trans and most people were supportive but one person was very negative. But, I won't let one person dictate my entire existence. Thank you for your reaction :)

Nice pick 94. Compass arrow like in Pirates of the Caribbean, always points in the direction of your true desire. Got to love this gal. Suggest you review Kacey's Burn One with John Prine in a live performance to John Prine. You get the backstory, get to see the John reacting to her and the audience getting high on the both of them. Side note; John died recently of covid-19. He recorded one of his best albums just before his untimely departure. I followed John Prine for 40 years and loved him with all my heart. Rest in peace.

Kacey is the best

She has had a lot of main stream success, I think she has won like 6 cma awards. She was on Josh Abbott Band's Oh To Night if you ever get a chance to listen to that one.

I wasn't really into Kacey when she first came out. My wife drug me to a Christmas tour show she put on and I was really impressed. She was really great live. I'm not into Christmas music as a rule, but she also did several of her other songs.

I'm interesting in listening to more of her music. But I guess, some of us look for messages in music we can really strongly relate to, and it isn't always in there within mainstream stuff. But I can see why she got requested on here.

@@OliWilford She's pretty mainstream in sound for what I normally like. Her new album is really popish in weird ways. "Rainbow" is the stand out track in my mind, though "Space Cowboy" is great, if a bit weird in sound. Her first album had some other great songs like "Merry Go Round", "It Is What It Is", and "Dandelion". As someone else mentioned, she's got a couple of tribute songs that are great, "Burn One With John Prine" and the Christmas song "A Willie Nice Christmas" are great.

Kacey did a really nice cover of I've been everywhere live at the grand Ole opry. Not much of a message I suppose but just a good rendition of that song. In terms of a good message I enjoyed high horse and Merry Go 'Round.

I suggest "Tin Man". It's not like most of her songs, but it is my personal favorite.

I’d give a nod to Margo Price, too. She’s also an incredible songwriter. Hurtin’ and Four Years of Chances would be the recommendations. Jaime Wyatt is pretty terrific, too. Also, Guy Clark (Dublin Blues and Rain in Durango), Ryan Bingham (Southside of Heaven and Bread & Water), and Isbells’s Last of My Kind would very much be worth a listen. Guy is colossal in country singer/songwriter music. Also, give Sean Rowe covering Richard Thompson’s Vincent Black Lightning 1952 a listen to hear someone turn a guitar into a motorcycle.

Sad news from the singer songwriter community. You may have already heard but Justin Townes Earle has died at 38 this last weekend. Info still sparse but just thought people should know.

I've suggested JTE before but now would be a good time to make that suggestion again. There are a good many of us that were devastated by the news of his passing. He was someone who was very special, as is his father, and will be incredibly missed.

@@byrtoff Yes! From his last album. He was his father's son in all ways, both good and bad, but always worth listening to.
