The world's oldest travel company, Thomas Cook, has collapsed, leaving more than 600,000 people who bought its package holidays stranded in various countries spanning the globe.
The British government has been urged to intervene with the economic effect likely to spread beyond the travel industry.
The collapse triggered Operation Matterhorn, the rescue mission to bring home British holidaymakers from across the world.
Al Jazeera's Catherine Stancl reports from London.

Jonathan C. Some people buy in agencies because they don’t won’t to plan. Some others because you don’t have to pay all in once. My cousin bought her ticket in an agency last year because they had a deal on extra kilos. My friend because he lost his credit card and could only pay cash. When you are traveling as a group too, it can be helpful apparently.

You also have scammers like WorldVentures who you pay a monthly fee to. Of course, in 2017 the same thing happened to them, could not pay their employees and vendors millions of dollars, people got to destinations only to find the hotels refused service as WV had taken their money, but didn't pay the hotels. Meanwhile, the C level execs were buying themselves 911s and Maserati's.

@@EasymasterGuru maybe you need to cut back the drug use as you're spouting quite a lot of pointless drivel. The problem with the UK was the result of Remain MPs deliberately sabotaging Brexit to the result when Boris became pm they tried to pass their Yellowhammer report as one of his despite it's clear Remain origins. So maybe you should get a clue before posting next time?
