India, with its fascistic government and the treatment it mets to its own Muslim citizens, in no way deserves a seat at the UN or anywhere else. A country that is trying to disenfranchise millions of its own people should be condemned and ostracized in no uncertain terms. Mr. Muhbubani of all people should know that.

I do agree UK should concede the UN seat to Brazil and France to the African Union. One seat to each continents. North America, South America, Asia , European Union or Russia and African Union. 6 seats is better than 5 seats. Right now America has 3 seats because UK and France are the servants of Uncle Sam. Which is going to be a bit complicated because Africa’s population of blacks is about 97%. While the Arab Africans are about 2 point something. Then the European Africans are the smallest percentage. India is happy to sell her alliance to the highest bidder. Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa are all better candidates. Indonesia stand up to the tremendous pressure applied by G7 to invite Russia to the G20 summit. Similarly S Africa brought Israel to the ICJ. Only Brazil has the stature to represent Latin America. These are countries that has shown leadership and gumption. India politicians love to talk big but unable to solve their own huge domestic problems and inequality. In fact they take advantage of these religious and caste issues to consolidate their power. We don't need these kind in the UNSC.

Indian politicians always dream big but unable to achieve. Modi wants to make India a superpower by 2047, it’s really a laughing stock. Did Modi who run the largest democracy in the world manage to alleviate millions of Indians out of poverty? I predict in next 30 years, India will still be an impoverished country and will find it difficult to achieve developed status least to be a superpower. Cut down on defence budget and help the ordinary Indians who are struggling to make ends meet. Resolve your huge internal domestic problems first - rampant corruption, racial religious violent, primitive caste system, infrastructure deficiency, income disparity, abject poverty, etc.

I have been a keen follower of Prof Kishore. However in this topic I do not agree with him for several reasons: 1) There were no agreements among nations when the UN was formed as to who should the permanent members of the Security Council. Is it based on size of population, land area, land and sea area, economy or military strength ? 2) Even if Britain were to agree to give up its sit, it is not Britain's right to give it another country of its chose. 3) What about other countries ? Do they not have the right to have a say on who should be there ? The Islamic , African, Spanish /Arabic /Turkish/French speaking countries ,EU members,Asean countries have a say ?

From early 17th century to the middle of 20th, UK was a great empire whose colonial possessions stretch from east board of north american continent, and spread westwards to the Far East, Africa and to India the biggest of all. About 300,000 Brits controlled 1/3 of world's population back then. After World War II, Britain was replaced by its former colony the USA, as the dominant force in global geopolitics. Now it faced internal turmoil, religious conflict on whether the Brits had still the majority citizens that call themselves English, Brits or stick to tradition. Split in between the Brits no longer worshipped the Anglican Church that English King Edward VIII established with he himself the Head, but Islam imported abroad by series of mass migrations from former colonies to UK. The drawback of colonial past. Now UK is disintegrating from within as a nation state. The power and influence on global stage had subsided that it could not even properly governed itself, much more dictate other states what form of governance or behavior to follow. Hence, UK losses geopolitical standing at the UNSC. It's role by now insignificant, and still attempted hard to play the role of great power, but reduced to being an stooge that highjacked peace in Russia-Ukraine War which could have been prevented in the first place, had not former PM Boris Johnson intervened, and who advised Zelensky to go to war with Russia, instead of peace.

This kisshore suggestion that UK give up UN permanent member because it has no independent view except to follow US, I think is good. Kisshore suggesting India to replace UK is a wrong choice, because India has no independent view too, as modi leans towards US; so what's the difference ??? Logical choice is South Africa, firstly Africa continent has no permanent member, secondly South Africa has shown global leadership by initiating a legal case against Israel in ICJ on genocide and South Africa is a peace loving country with no axe to grind (unlike India against Pakistan). Moreover, corruption in India including the political elites means decisions are always unfair. Kisshore is wrong, very wrong.

As a South African I would love that...... BUT we have way too much issues at home There is about 77 murders a day in a year in SA that's close to the death rate of the gaza war. We are seen as a failed state in the international community. As for making the case against Israel we have not down that about Ethiopia or Sudan in Africa or picked up a case against Azerbaijan and turkey for the genocide against the Armenians. Before we can even get to that we need to fix most of our domestic issues and work towards a global power in the mid range and have a military that is world class before suggesting that we get a permanent position in the security council.

Facts on the ground suggest that the UK is no longer as important nor as great as they once were, especially after the UK left the EU, and has since lose its "position of strength" in Europe, and by extension the world. Moreover, given the special relationship and its "blood is thicker than water" with its Anglo-Saxon cousin, USA, the UK's geopolitical interests would certainly be in sync with the USA. Hence, UK's UN permanent UNSC sit would be deemed suffice to requirement; therefore, ought to be given to Brazil (representing South America) or South Africa (representing AFRICA) instead of India, considering that India is mostly align politically with the Collective-West in general. At best, the UN could expand the UN permanent UNSC sits to include Brazil, South Africa and India, but without any VETO power, plus a rotating UNSC sit every three years between the UK and France.

This Indian had overestimated his worth. Is he a leader of any country?❌ Does he represents the view/views of a country?❌ Is he a politician in office?❌ Does his words carry any weight? ❌ A "has-been" ✅ Why even bother listen to his ramblings? 🤭

I hope you are not paying this guy for this content. He was already irrelevant and is even more so now. Which democratically elected government in the UK (or any other country) will dare to do anything like this. Most governments don't even apologize for the atrocities committed by their predecessors. This guy is insulting your viewer's intelligence

Kishore has the courage of conviction to say what is right or needed to be say. Of course no government will be willing to give up such a prestigious and influential position, needless to say. They will not vote themselves out. This is a great start and more voices should be added.
