Loved the UK Subs when l was a young bloke in the 80s - A truly great band that never failed to deliver live - Had a weird experience last month too when l visited the small coastal town of Port Campbell in Victoria - Rode into town on my Triumph singing '500cc' and decided to stop for some Fish & Chips - Stood behind the counter serving was a young half-cast aboriginal guy who was the absolute spitting image of Charlie Harper - Funny thing was when l mentioned the startling resemblance he just laughed and told me that he didn't actually know who the UK Subs were but that l was the second pomme-white-fella that week to mention it - Needless to say l showed him this video 😎

Ol Charlie used to give us tips on studios etc., found It so strange his Birthday was only a month, or so ago, yes he lived near CLAPHAM Hill ST? back then used to see a lot of him & friends walking around Brixton often. A good bloke always stopped & as said, told us about Studios etc., never tried to fck us off, as we were about 14 - 15, he was quite good about all of that, gentleman Charlie to us up & coming beginners, a couple of our lot got to the pinnacles, but that's quite another story altogether, lol, yea as said good-bloke!

Charlie was the perfect punk, even despite being a good 10/15 years older than the audience his lyrics had meaning he's seen more knows more makes perfect sense to me that's why they were so good

How come Nicky Garrett’s name doesn’t top the lists? When I was a boy I looked up to him as a guitarist the same way as Chuck Berry. Fantastic stage presence as well

I totally agree & today was wondering if perhaps, because the band had the letters UK in their name, it somehow held them back or made them look naff in some way......they were easily as good as say The Clash live and yes, Nicky was the greatest in many ways.

15:15 in -- as the voice-over says "...child-molesting media businessmen" the camera pans in on a Gary Glitter lookalike -- Wer they tryin' t' tell us somefing? I first saw this in Canberra in Easter 1983. It was a foggy freezing night. There was only one cinema open that night back then (there weren't many more) and it was showing fucking Porky's! But the surprise was this excellent featurette on UK Subs. Me and the missus were blown away! There's just one thing -- a Mandela Effect: I could've sworn most of the band (and many of the audience) were stripped to the waist. "Parallel fucking universe mate!"

@@thomasandersen6719 So fucking What? 40 is a "turn off"? I respect the piss outta Charlie for doing what he loves forever... Did you not think punk rockers would get old? If he became a banker or sumthin equally corporate you'd STILL be "turned off"..?! More power to Charlie Harper! Carrying on the spirit til he dies!

@@MikeIXWilliams When Sex Pistols released God save the Queen in 1977 he was 33...he was a hairdresser in the 60's. He formed his first band in 1964..we are talking Beatles era...." Did you not think punk rockers would get old?" you ask me...He was born during the 2nd world war...he could almost be the farther of most first wave punks (born lat 50's/early 60's)......A guy at 78 still dressing up in tight leather trousers and spiky hair is just sad.....would your dad do that? and if he did would you still respect him? Everything has it's time and to me this guy is over ....."Carrying on the spirit til he dies!"....as I said he was a hairdresser when the Beatles were getting started...he was at least 10 years too late to the party and I just cannot take him seriously
