UK tells Israel to 'stop and think' about offensive in Rafah after deadly strikes - BBC News

The UK's foreign secretary has urged Israel to "stop and think seriously" about any ground offensive in Rafah and the impact on the estimated 1.5 million people sheltering in the southern city.
Lord David Cameron reiterated his call for a pause in the fighting, with the long-term aim of securing a "sustainable ceasefire".
It comes as the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says Israeli strikes overnight killed at least 67 people in the overcrowded city.
Israel says it carried out a "wave of strikes" while rescuing two hostages who are now "in good medical condition".
Israel launched its operations in Gaza after Hamas killed more than 1,200 people on 7 October, and took 253 people hostage.
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 28,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 67,500 injured since then.

There hardly sending Israel weapons for use in Gaza.... The UK defense contractors sell weapons across the world but the UK government isn't benefiting from that nor is the UK government politically arming Israel. Its essentially the private sector arming Israel and Israel don't need our weapons... There weapons systems are some of the most advanced in the world. Telling them stop and think is a joke because the UK government ISNT helping Israel and therefore have no right to tell them what to do when they cant even be bothered to support Israel.. There are Palestinian protests every single weekend in the UK. The UK government cares more about Muslims in the Middle East then Brits in Britain.

No water. No wash facilities. Meager food rationing that takes all day in line. Infants with no dispers no clothing. Water in the tents when it rains. Cold temps and not all have blankets. How can a mother nurse when shes dehydrated? How can she find clean water to mix formula? Bottled water is full of plastics. This is not normal for infants in the best of circumstances. Trauma, constant trauma. Constant war conditions. Children exposed to death, bloody scenes, distress, its never ending there. Everyone loses family, friends with no time to grieve. It doesnt get worse than this.

A bit more than ~1% of people living in Gaza have been killed during the war since October, according to Palestinian authorities. If genocide was their target, this is quite a low number don't you think? I do not condone acts of war(crime), but this is not genocide.. yet. To compare: we do have a huge country that is currently, actively, conducting genocide. China with their Uighur concentration camps, that's on a much larger scale for the exact surpose of ethnic cleansing of a people and their Islamic beliefs specifically actually. Netanyahu is definitely a villain, he doesn't have the interests of Palestinian people in mind (he could've ordered for more aid, been in talks with UN way better). But, atleast so far, Israel's goal does not seem to be genocide.

UK lost nearly 1,000 service personnel against emerging Israeli ‘militias’ in the 1940s. Many killed were from The British 🇬🇧 6th Airborne Division. They had previously played a key role in the Normandy landings on DDay 6th June 1944 in WW2. Also the Battle for Caen, the drive to the River Seine, the Ardennes offensive (Battle of the Bulge) and Operation Varsity (the Parachute drop to cross and secure the Rhine River) Also they had helped liberate Belsen.

It was generally reported that the attack last night resulted in the death of over 100 people. Two hostages that were rescued were said to not have been beheaded, raped or injured in any way.

I don't see how anyone watching the bloodshed of the 30's and 40's could have believed that a "secured bi-national status in Palestine with free immigration" was a realistic option. Free immigration would have implied an unlimited influx of Jews -- ample cause for war from the standpoint of Palestinian Arabs, as they had already demonstrated clearly.

I’m saddened by deaths and injuries of Palestinians- especially children who rely on parents to keep them safe. Israel continues to warn civilians to move to safe zones and yet they stay. Why? Most of us have an instinct for our own survival or as a parent the safety of our children above our own. Palestinians need a future free of the terrorism and corruption of Hamas.
