It's insane how the Indian fanboys are literally on every single video which also compares India to other nations. Don't get me wrong, I like India, but this ongoing "India will be a superpower", "prepare for Indian takeover", "we gonna overtake all of you" is getting on my nerves

I believe that India will overtake all other nations and become the world's largest economy within 50-75 years. The average Indian standard of living will, however, never catch up with those in Europe and North America and will likely top-out at equivalent to Russia or the richer parts of Latin America (i.e. around 35% to 45% of the US level) It is also possible than 50 years after India becomes the world's largest economy it will itself be overtaken, by Nigeria.

Spain was the absolute leader at conquering the Americas, creating commerce routes and creating the modern world in the process. Respectable past👍🏻

MrCordycep yeah the Greeks definetly helped create the modern Western Civilization, but their contributions didnt make a difference to the rest of the world (China, India etc). On the other hand countries like the US have created top human inventions like the internet (which has connected the entire human race and changed the world forever, effectively contributing to the whole world). It's due to exchange-rate fluctuations mainly. A good rule of thumb at the moment is that if £1 is worth more than €1.12 then the UK's economy is bigger - if it's worth less then France is bigger. However I feel I should point out that the definitions of 'France' and 'UK' also affect this. 'France' includes the overseas territories in the Caribbean and Pacific whereas 'UK' excludes the Channel Islands and the Isle of Mann. I believe most people would exclude the former and include the latter when thinking about these two countries.
@particuliervdm8603
@particuliervdm8603 5 жыл бұрын
@@jonchedgy6654 *Definition of France and UK in statistics* • The Crown dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man are often included in British Statistic. • Even when the above Crown dependencies are not counted, UK statistics includes British Overseas Territories like Cayman Islands, Bermuda etc. • Often French Overseas Collectivities which don't have Department or Region status (e.g., New Caledonia, French Polynesia) are not included in statistic as “French Republic”. Personally, I think overseas territories should be included as UK and France (mainly) invest massively in these territories. Anyways, included or not, I don't think it makes a decisive difference: Although UK and France have different policies and have advantages in specific sectors over the other, they are neck and neck (in good and in bad) in pretty much everything.
@jonchedgy6654
@jonchedgy6654 5 жыл бұрын
@@particuliervdm8603 The Crown dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man are often included in British Statistic. Not in the GDP statistics, sorry I should have been clear that these were the specific statistics I was talking about. You can quite clearly see this by trying to obtain up to date GDP statistics for these territories and you will find this quite difficult. The difference is admittedly tiny for the UK: 0.4% of 'Mainland' UK GDP but is much more significant for France at 2.0% of 'European' France's GDP Now 2% might not sound like much - until you consider that the reported GDP of France (which includes that 2% extra) has averaged 101.1% of the UK's (which excludes that 0.4%) over the 1998-2017 period. That average is using Purchasing Power Parities by the way, unlike the exchange-rates in this video.

I love playing as Rome since Legions + Ballistas is a clearly op combo and the production bonus for building buildings already done in the capital is just insane. It’s still the only civ were I achieved domination victory with a Normal map at deity. The only 2 situation where u may be forced to play tall is when Songai or Iroquios are near you, as the first is the only one nation that has a gigantic army in classical era and (unlike the Aztecs) they have quality units, and the iroquios can Spam their replacement of the swordsman since it does not require iron. In all other games playing with rome is easy: first 80 turns develop, kill the nearest empire to you, use diplomacy to avoid wars and focus on Science, achieve Plastic before everyone else, conquer your continent with WW2 infantry (other countries will probably still have riflemans or WW1 infantry), then Rush other capitals with Nuclear bombs + XCOMS squads

What I love about this graph is that you can actually see how multiple events like the first oil crash impacted the world : 0:18 = 1973 -> the Kippour's war 0:51 = 1980-1988-> the Irak-Iran war. In each cases it implied the explosion of the prices over oil. I just find it interesting. Idk.

Taking into account the last 15 years or so, not having the euro makes UK's GDP depend on an extra factor. That said, it would have made more sense to compare GDP and the other stats in ECUs/euros instead of US dollars. Otherwise, periods of apparent growth or recession in the graph may have more to do with the euro/dollar exchange than with the actual state of the economy.

"Eastern" (actually its central - actual eastern Germany has been annexed by other countries) Germany has been royally fucked over by the government of West Germany, EU and international companies, thats why not much has changed for Germany after reunification. They simply bought(for little money) or confiscated the East German companies and then scrapped them and stole their inmovations and ideas. Especially american, british and french companies have done this. And before 1990 he didn't combine the data of the two German nationstates as far as I know.

I don't think people realise that Europe and especially the UK were completely different around the 70s. Being from the North of England, many people in urban areas lived in slum areas and were in somewhat extreme poverty relative to today. Even before that my Grandma lived in a one room house and I live in the first generation of my family with high disposable income yet before that it was the complete opposite and many people were living on hardly anything. The UK used to be one of the worst Western European countries if not the worst depending on your opinion back then so it's amazing how much change there has been in 50 years. Looks nothing like it used to.
