NATO is a defensive agreement. If the UK was the aggressor towards a non-member, the other members have no obligation to join in the fight.

@ It's an unfortunate truth. I don't know how their export rules work as far as rules for supply they must have on hand, but I imagine their stockpiles are running mighty low because of all that's been sent to Ukraine. Might be a goof time to invest in European and American munitions manufacturing, as I'm sure they're gonna be putting in large domestic orders (if they haven't already.)

India is country with most people in the entire world, so ofc they will have a huge army, a tiny percent for them will be a huge percent for the UK if to match direct numbers
@loganfore

Yeah but the economies are near identical (obviously not exactly the same but close enough) so they can both field the same amount of weapons . Hypothetically the UK could buy enough weapons for everyone but for India that would only be a small percentage . So talking about numbers it would come to a point where India would just be using men with sticks if that makes sense .

I mean let's ignore the fact that the UK is part of NATO and obviously America would get involved. So it realistically would be a steamroll. One on one would be kind of interesting as the UK has decently high-tech weapons and equipment. Compared to what India has but India does have numbers so the interesting thing about it in my opinion is while they have numbers that doesn't necessarily mean that they would win numbers isn't everything
@borttorbbq2556
@borttorbbq2556 21 сағат бұрын
I'm an American so my view on this might be a little bit skewed but I think it would be freaking hard but not impossible for the UK to win. The quality of the equipment and the soldiers would definitely be its own advantage and I'll just be honest with you I would take a platoon of UK troops over 2 platoons of Indian soldiers.

It doesn't matter how many machines any country has it is about maintaining them. The more you have the more it is difficult to maintain. That is why US is retiring old planes example the A10, destroying old aircraft carriers, and even some of their f22s. Too hard to maintain and keeping up with upgrades.

India special forces defeated special forces of all the other countries in a competition in Africa, now ofc anyone can argue no one will show their full capabilities and so on. But still... Doubting our men isn't a good way to go, we have a lot of experience with wars, and peacekeeping as well. Edit: Also, war between UK and India is highly unlikely. Extremely Highly unlikely. And some of these numbers are wrong.

Id love to see UK and India become partners and help each other out it would be great for UK as India's growing so fast France and USA and many other countries are trying for a piece of it, and i think France is ahead of UK they are about to do another Rafal deal ,and might give over 100% full tech on there Safran jet engines ,while RR in uk have refused so far ,and also France are looking into buying Indian missiles ,Macron is always going over there

We do know, from many wars, including ww2, that QUALITY does not matter, only NUMBERS matter, just look at the lemming trains of russian soldiers, just there to drain the ammo from the germans, lol or the weak shermans, before the got the bigger cannon from the UK.....1400 tigers 6000 panthers, vs 84 000t-34 and 50 000 sherman???? that is 134 000 tanks vs 7400 tanks......yea, numbers matter, it is the only thing that matters, just spam it out and overwhelm

I think the only problem with relying on NATO for y'all is (without the US) you're partnering with many other European powers (except for Poland) who have let their military power dwindle. Which is also why we have such a metric F ton of kit and always more in development/production here in the US. I really would love to see the British military aircraft industry come back in force. Y'all produced some beautiful birds (and the planes aren't bad either 🤪)

India has mostly Russian hardware and having masses of that hasn't done Russia any good against the kind of military tech Britain has. I can't imagine a scenerio in which India would attack Britain and that's the only scenerio in which NATO would be involved. India has one nuclear powered ballistic missile sub and it's a prototype. Britain has four Trident nuclear subs each with 16 Trident ICBMs. Each missile carries four warheads which can be independently targeted. That is Britain's sole nuclear force since the RAF no longer has any aircraft capable of carrying a nuclear bomb. India is modernizing it's military because of China, but they're beginning to realize that relying on Russian gear was a huge mistake. All those helicopters can't fly at the altitudes along the border with China and the Russian tanks also function very poorly in that area. Pakistan has an alliance with China and has allowed the Chinese to build a large port on their coast and build a modern road linking it with China. India is afraid that port will be used as a base for the Chinese Navy. That's why they're expanding their navy. I know many people in the UK still have an attachment to India, but I think India has largely forgotten that Britain exists. Time to move on.

I think you need some catching up to do when it comes to India's military. There are already two ssbns in service with the navy (fully operational) and a third one on its way. India has already developed and inducted the 'Prachand' attack helicopter with the highest service ceiling for use in the himalayas because both the Apache and the Hind in service with iaf struggle to operate in that environment. A new light tank 'Zorawar' is in the later stages of development which is to be fielded in the himalayas.

Do you think Indian weapons are inferior then you better think twice. If you think British solders are superior then Indian then you better think twice as well. Without Nato , Britain is nowhere near to India. But both of India and Britain will never going to war. Indian weapons are of same or better quality then British. So search before commenting. I know in some domains we are behind but I hope in next ten years we will also cover that as well. India enemies are China, Pakistan and may be in future some other as well.

Our military is no more it's gone soft and so have the people the militaries we'd face are tough people living in what we call harsh conditions, their comfortable in a harsh environment as a country forget the military. Draft would be called and even woth nato it's all so complicated and drafted citizens of our countries arnt used to real hardship like the people they'd face. I don't think we'd stand a chance Germany had quality over quantity it worked for so long then russia began mass production of an effective tank land lease also and USA joined and mass produced cheap effective equipment like firefly sherwani with the British gun. Russia and China still have this ability we no longer do we're doing it the german way while they're sticking to what's always worked in a war of attraction.

It's not wise to compare the two with knowledge of one. I understand it hurts but you guys can't even go beyond the planet earth. Most driven assets are becoming more and more useless with the revolution of many kinds of drones used these days in war... so.. I dont even know how much useful many of these mobile assets will be even more when talking about land based assets.. Even aircraft carriers could become overwhelmed by a naval attack combined with water and air drones...
