Keep the tool blade moving and clear out the saw dust regularly. The heat from the friction is the thing which will kill the blade quickly and they are expensive what every the brand. Lovely fit on the newel Robin

Pretty gentle on the framer. My biggest challenge with a multi-tool is when the cut stops short or ends in a corner. Keep from over cutting.

great tool but my top tip for ANYONE using any multitool is to buy yourself a pair of the vibration protection gloves, brilliant for the multitool and any other vibrating tool like sanders etc
@cuebj Жыл бұрын
Nothing saves your hands from vibration of corded DeWalt multi-cutter. Got one in a pre-Christmas sale, far more powerful than an old green Bosch. Builder pal mocked but ended up loving it, so I gave him mine and got another in next year's sale. But numb hands was always a problem. Left at daughter's, needed it, bought bare 18V Milwaukee as have drill/driver 4AHr pack. Wow! Night and day better than the corded DeWalt. Now finding all corded DeWalt gear is junk, even stuff that was good ten to 30 years ago. Electrician friend got a cordless Fein after borrowing my corded DeWalt - vastly superior
@FPL-LARD Жыл бұрын
@@cuebj I have Milwaukee M18FMT-0X 18V Li-Ion RedLithium Brushless and its superb, but the gloves do make a difference if you are using it for a length of time for sure. I use it daily and some times for 2 hours at the begining of the job removing newel posts

Robin, you are a fine Carpenter. I like the way the multi tool blade change. I bought the new Metabo multi tool. Although I'm pleased with the metabo, I have to take care changing blades as pulling out it may bite if you are not careful. The hilti blade change somewhat eliminates that probability.

Wouldn't mind giving it a go. Hilti pretty scarce around me. But a good multitool is such a go to tool. Have tried and owned a lot of brands. Currently using Dewalt. That shakes you to pieces. The big issue is price. Not just the unit. But blades. Starlock blades are a second mortgage. One reason I run Dewalt. Cheap blades. Yet to find any so called hardwood blades that cut real hardwood. English or American Oak is Pine compared to some gums or Ironbark. One cut if you are lucky and the blade is stuffed. Expensive with good blades. If someone could make blades that cut multiple cuts in Aussie hardwood. I would go with that system. Still waiting.

Robin. What a machine. I will not, however trade my 110 Fein or my Cheapy 240 Sealey (A bit loud but useful). I gave my Bosch to my son who has made a real list of jobs that have been through the whole gamut of what an M/T can do. My only gripe is the cost of blades.. Thanks for the demo... real good stuff. Well spotted. The Hilti promo video has a shot showing the unit as exploded parts, compare that to the parts manual for the Flex MT 18.0-EC and they have exactly the same internal parts. Probably also shares the control system of the 24v USA versions.

I went to the Hilti Store and asked if they have a Mitre saw coming, they didn't know what a mitre saw was. I tried drop saw, still nothing lol.. Feels like Hilti just hires a bunch of sales guys with no construction background. I was actually looking for a laser at the time, so just went and got a Bosch for half the cost, at least store that sold Bosch knew the basics about the features and where calibration is done. Person at the Hilti store said she didn't know anything about lasers and needed to get a Rep to call me about it..., seems just crazy. Will give Hilti another shot when lll be buying an impact wrench, heard they got torque settings for specific hardware, so you can just set and forget it. Dewalt multitool seems alot better though with its variable speed trigger.

Im not sure its best used on oak Robin, 12 million pound on hilti blades later, to be fair thats only 2 blades with hilti, we have over 40k worth of kit from them, they dont support our battery platform, anymore 22volt, but not to worry there selling off the old tool stock, unfortunately they want more for it now its defunct, about 30% more, there taking a lend of us all now, highway robbery
@rocketmunkey1 Жыл бұрын
Dont bother with Hilti either get Milwaukee Dewalt Makita Metabo or Bosch Pro, they are pro level tools and every bit as good as Hilti and in many instances much better for half the price ! In fact a lot of Hiltis tools are actually Bosch tools rebranded for twice the price ! Worse still I saw a video the other day on Dean Dohertys tool repair channel, where he opened up the £1000 Hilti GX90WF framing nailer, and showed that the internals were EXACTLY the same as the cheapest off the shelf nailer, a TJEP gun. The same gun also rebranded for Senco, Rawlplug and KMR to name but a few that you can buy for less than £300 Hilti are charging £700 just to have a Hilti Branded cover its outrageous ! Hilti aren't the company they used to be, they are just scam artists trading on their previous good name at this point !

Hilti is an overrated company, poor quality from China, why buy these machines if hilti does not service machines older than 10 years. I trust the quality and services, the company has colossal problems with the service, I ordered the machine in February, it was delivered to me yesterday, I replaced the screwdriver bits, shipping cost 30 euros. and these new batteries are awfully heavy, I advise against buying Hilti too expensive for the quality.

Well I was rather disappointed with this video that purportedly was to review the Hilti Mulitool that incidentally looked absolutely stunning and invaluable for woodworking. Unfortunately Robin seemed to spend the majority of his videos ( well he would, wouldn’t he ) talking about the job, the this the that and failed to deliver a sensible detailed and informative review if this tool . Wasted opportunity
