Can’t believe you have a business that sells hinge jigs, fair play to you guys. I have made numerous jigs over the years never thought someone else would actually buy one 👊.

Beautiful house and grounds, surprised Robin chose a flat roof (which I love) rather than a pitched roof, love to see the rest of the house. Great video, great channel!

I used to work with someone whose father was a railway carriage builder. In those days, all the screws were slotted and because it was difficult to align the slots ie you might not be able to get another quarter turn, he used to hand cut a second slot in the screw heads so that they were easier to align. That’s the kind of craftsmanship that is sadly now missing, so good to see it on your jigs. 👍

Like most chippies I've made my own jigs over the years from Medite MRMDF and Finsa Hydrofugo but the problem is they wear from the bearing repeatingly running against the jig.I now buy a small sheet of Tufnol to make them which does't wear but would add to the costs. Great for DIY'ers who want to replace their own doors.
@paulcloona93312 ай бұрын
Hi Adrian. Yes I find the bearing wears the mdf. I have made gigs myself and discovered doing round corner gigs. I perfected the corners with 2 pack body filler. Makes them accurate by sanding to suit. Also found the filler make it lot less wearing . So I put 2 pack filler into the normal gig when they wear, so the guide bearing has a nice surface to run on. 👍

Great jig got one myself thanks
@rl78812 ай бұрын
Just a thought: could you slightly lengthen the jig then offset the guide hole to give you 9” from one end, then 6” from the other. You could then use the end face of the jig to align the top and bottom hinges and only need to measure and mark for a centre hinge, if you need one?

Hi Robin, any plans to make a more resilient hinge jig? What I mean is I own both of your hinge jigs and love them. But I use them so much I'm afraid of wear and tear. Do you have plans for an aluminium version?? What's happening with the roofing square?

Just a quick thank you. Recently I purchased the 3" hinge jig and was so impressed I bought the 4". Both have been used in the last week to mitre all new hinges into new doors in our home. Whilst I agree Jigs can be made, I have to say the RC Hinge jigs are made to a very high standard and are a worth while addition to my tool collection. If I am ask to loan them out, I would simply refuse as anyone hanging doors, in my opinion should own their own RC Hinge Jigs. Money very well spent and worth every penny. Should I loose or break one, then I am heading straight back to buy another.

Hello robin and Adrian, Nice work on the jigs iv owned both the 3 inch and 4 inch for 2 years now? still going strong! don't use any other system however I have been tempted by dan cox's aluminium extrusion one for a while simply because of the all 3 hinges in 1 unit nature of it and the rotatable 2/3mm space on the top. I'm sure iv seen you made a prototype long MDF jig with all 3 hinges in 1 unit before? if so could you provide any idea if/when you would sell any? both 3 inch and 4 inch variants.

Hi Robin, long time viewer here, love your content. Slightly unrelated, but I would love to know your thoughts on your composite decking years down the line, as we've fit lots of decks using the same and similar products you did yours out of those years ago. We're beginning to struggle justifying fitting it for customers due to going back to jobs and them looking a total mess due to the insane amount of movement in the product. I notice that where your decking meets the fascia is no longer the same as in the original video, have you had problems? And is there another decking product out there which you like? Cheers 👍
