We need these kinds of barriers here in the US. What we have is so inadequate with only a simple arm blocking each direction of traffic.
@YukiGersaniba2 жыл бұрын
If you’re on about level crossings: some of ours have half-barriers (blocking only one side of the road) because they’re automatic level crossings. As there is basically no one watching the crossing, the other side isn’t blocked to allow oncoming traffic to escape the crossing. If you’re on about swing bridges: yeah, all entry/exit roads will have barriers.

@UKLevelCrossingsChannel7 жыл бұрын
This bridge is very modern and a great piece of architecture. It's not like the usual drawbridge you come across. The alarms come back on as a safety precaution that the barriers are about to raise. This isn't really implemented on level crossings as level crossings aren't as busy. Drawbridges/Swing bridges and level crossings both use wigwags (the red/white bordered flashing lights) to stop traffic and pedestrians. Most barriers are the same on level crossings but moving bridges use barriers made by a different company (as different companies offer cheaper barrier systems).

Curious American here, what's the purpose behind the way it's designed to split? Just for looks?
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, mostly for aesthetic looks and architectural design, and to function as a lift bridge. The two triangular road spans are made to look like two boat sails, hence the name twin sails bridge.

The boat that passes the level crossing looks like a small yacht.

There are some large and small vessels that pass under the bridges in Poole.

I love how this video has 100k more people than the population of Poole

Haha I never thought of that. That's quite amusing ☺️

How could a railroad crossing do the job?
@l.ch.64474 жыл бұрын
Wow, bridge that split into two diagonally, kinda new thing for me, it's cool.. is it still under maintenance?
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is quite cool to watch. I don't think its under any maintenance closures at the moment. It has had quite a few maintenance jobs over the last few years but I don't think its had any recently.

OK tell me, This? Why are the crossing signs with the lights are not the same as all railroad crossing? And also.. Why are the barriers behind them?
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel6 жыл бұрын
Bridges are not the same as typical level crossings. Bridges will usually have different lights, barriers and alarms. The lights, barriers and alarms are attached to these silver posts, and the bridge opens as two triangles.

I have a question about this what if your walking across and the red lights are flashing
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel7 жыл бұрын
As seen in the video, the alarms sound so pedestrians know the barriers are about to lower and close off the bridge. There is enough time given to pedestrians and vehicle traffic to clear the bridge and allow the barriers to close safely.

Is the bridge automatic and controlled by CCTV
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel4 жыл бұрын
I think it's manually controlled and monitored via CCTV

@Sidneyyoungblood754 жыл бұрын
To the left is a hut that can see both bridges, should they require 'manual' viewing.
