Totally awesome that his police training kicked in and he remained calm and gave the first responders his symptoms and etc.

Strange how calm the guy is even though he is paralyzed and he knows it

He’s a police officer and obviously just has a personality that’s calm.

Wow, this was really gripping. I'm so glad for this stranger that I've never met. It was a relief to see him walking again.

I only watched this hoping the outcome would be positive. It's very difficult for me to watch people injured and suffering. I was in a motorcycle accident in 2011. I hit a deer at 45mph. I was thrown over the handlebars and landed on the pavement on my head and left shoulder. I was knocked unconscious and fractured my clavicle (collarbone). It was excruciatingly painful and nauseating after the initial shock wore off. So watching this poor fella had me feeling phantom pain for him and made me nauseous. I'm glad to see he's ok and walking again.

I’m no doctor but why was no neck brace/collar put on the dude? Just seems odd. Really appreciate what the HEMS crews do.

Often the act of putting on a neck collar moves the neck and spine more than if they just strap his head securely to the spinal board. The board is shaped/moulded so that the head fits it nicely and it's actually pretty stable with just that and those straps you see around his head. They often also add these pads to either side of the head once they get him in the helicopter and those act to keep his head from moving - and they're easier to place and remove without touching the neck at all.

Because with spinal cord swelling and bruising, functionality and feeling can fluctuate in the first minutes, hours and days after the injury.
