The advantage of French weapons are that they are specifically designed to take into account the shortcomings of other similar systems. For instance, the F-16 was originally designed to be a light fighter, so the airframe was not designed for the equipment it actually carries in real life. The Mirage 2000 was designed to take this into consideration from the outset. So the Mirage 2000 performs better in real world conditions. Which would be expected, being specifically designed for those conditions and not modified after the fact.

Isn't this plane 4th generation.

Not really, the ones Ukraine is getting are early models.

Well if it’s 3rd then God Bless them, even the early 4th gen f16s have limited capabilities.

It is 4th gen but people don’t understand shit about gen if it ever meant something. The mirage 2000-5 can be considered as 4+ (they entered service in 98).

Great to hear that Ukraine will be getting these planes! It's a pity that the Harrier jump-jet isn't made any more - I think they were awesome aircraft and surprisingly capable. Speed isn't everything - the Harrier showed that in the Falklands War when it shot down much faster aircraft. Indeed, being able to slow down or stop means the enemy will go past you and go right into your sights. Few if any aircraft are as maneuverable as the Harrier either. I think one of the F-35 variants is STOL/VTOL but it's usually used off a carrier. Another aircraft that'd be useful in Ukraine is the A-10. Excellent for strafing dug-in Russian positions along the front line.

The French Air Force is still replacing its Mirage 2000s with Rafales, so we can suppose that other aircraft will be available in the future.

Ukraine could still use Griffin Jets my belief is they would give the most versatility to the Ukrainian Air Force they do not have to be at Major are fields, they could be based in other areas away from Ukraine's main airport fields, that would make them harder to find and destroy by Russia.

Game changer? People overuse that word to the point that it has become meaningless. Like he says, these things don't have the A2A capability of the F-16MLUs Ukraine got but the Mirage is an excellent bomb and cruise missile truck and there's plenty of spares. Laser guidance will be pretty useless given the capabilities Russian SAM defences still have but the Mirage will be able to make much better use of more advanced guided bombs than the Su-24. One of their biggest problems is probably going to be integrating NATO IFF systems on the Mirage and F-16 with the old Soviet air defence equipment.

So what A2A capabilities does the MLU have that the Dash 5 doesn't?

@@marcg1686 He kinda spelled it out in the video.

@@ChristianThePaganthat’s bs as in the given context for the m2k c, it would be true but for the m2k-5 it’s not. The -5 entered service in 98 not 80.

Before Biden gets out if you could give Ukraine one or two of the older United States Navy awacs carrier-based aircraft that would help Ukraine a lot.
