It's a civil war the US designed. Russia has been asking for a cease-fire/peace deal since 2015 (Minsk Accord)

Before the 2014 Ukraine had population of 36 million. Today they have around 16 million and 1+ million are permanently disabled males. Of that 10 million are senior citizens. If the war suddenly stopped now it will still see a population decline of a half a million evey year and it would be luckly to have a population of 10 million left in 10 years. For reference a 10 million Ukraine will be smaller than the cities of London, Moscow, and Istanbul.

I was watching the Olympics and explain to my wife that Ukrainians in the Olympics took Russia place after the Olympics Committee voted to expel the Russia teams even if the Ukrainians didn't qualify for the event. They said Ukraine had 38 million people, estimate are that 10 million went to western Europe and 3 million went to Russia and then you have to count the people that live in the new Russian federation territory that never left that are ethnic Orthodox Christian Russians estimated at 8 million. Officially 36 million, but several millions have already left the country. Between 10 and 20 thousands enter into Hungary every day, some on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, some travel via Romania. Much more go via the Polish border. The Ukrainian border guards allow anybody to leave except men of conscription age. Those try to cross the border illegally but often get shot by their own border guards, just like in the Soviet times. Have to say, most of the so called refugees are actually smugglers because after a few days they return, loaded with goods. One article I have seen several months ago claimed that the traffic in the other direction is about 80%, so only about 20 percent is the real refugee count. I do not know how reliable is this information.
