DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSS DATA
1) These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
2) These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
3) All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
4) Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
5) Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
6) Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
7) Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
8) All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
9) Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.

Russia is producing 20 tanks per month, and this month losing over 200. At this rate, within a few months, Russia will have no tanks at the front, and each new tank shipped to the front, will be lost on the same day that it arrives.

They will never actually run out, but they are in the process of transforming from a fully mechanised army into an infantry army with elements of mechanised support. Always assuming, of course, that the Chinese don’t step in to turn the situation around for them.
@DawnFox-kb1xq
@DawnFox-kb1xq 15 күн бұрын
@@Robert-sd1iz What? Never run out? Like the Passenger Pidgeon? One of the most abundant bird species in the world, with estimates of 3 -5 Billion birds, went extinct in 1914 due primarily to overhunting and finally habitat destruction inhibiting their recovery. They said about the Passenger Pidgeon "There are so many, they'll never run out". Birds, tanks, same principles apply if something continues to be destroyed at rates greater than it can regenerate........ China's fragile economy is particularly vulnerable to influential factors at this time, Xi will keep pushing the envelope (South china sea, supplies to rus) as much as he can, but knows he can't afford to provoke western economic retribution, and he knows that russia can't afford to pay for stuff much longer, and rus credit is not good in its current situation.
@andrewbielecki6154
@andrewbielecki6154 15 күн бұрын
They will have increasingly worse kit, being dragged to the front. It seems like they dont care about losing 15 tanks in a day, and go and lose 20 the next. At some point they will have insufficient numbers to do anything meaningful from a mechanised aspect. The numbers aren’t infinite.

A 'gabion' was originally a very large wicker basket that was filled with soil and rock to protect entrenchments and gun batteries. Its use predates the medieval period but they continued to be used throughout the 'gunpowder' period. Its an environmentally friendly version of the modern 'Hesco bastion'. Craftsmen could harvest tree branches and limbs locally to build the giant wicker frames. In the modern era we would use the term's 'aircraft revetment' or 'berm' to describe an opened topped blast wall around an aircraft apron. A reinforced concrete blast resistant hangar to protect an aircraft is called a 'HAS' or Hardened Aircraft Shelter.

I made basically the same point as Artur Rehi in one of my comments yesterday to one of your videos (or was it Professor Gerdes)? This move to "efficiency" signals that Putin is feeling pressure to reduce costs, both financially and in terms of personnel. The fact that this reshuffling is taking place just at the time as Russia is incurring some of the highest casualties of the war indicates to me that Putin is trying to signal the public that he recognizes there are problems in the "SMO" and that he, the big boss, is trying to do something about it. If this reshuffling doesn't result in significant gains on the battlefield and a decrease in losses of personnel soon, Putin knows he may be in big trouble.

Average Russian recruitment figures per month are estimated at 28,000 to 30,000 men. Any month that they suffer more than 30,000 KIA and WIA they will suffer a creeping force reduction across the whole front. Average daily Russian losses above 1000 per day will eventually lead to a problem, but I would assume it will take at least two months to seriously effect Russian combat operations.

ATP Jonno, I’ve ignored, wished away, disregarded as mis/dis-info and attributed this to the Kremlin trolls/propaganda… and in the end as much as it pains and angers me to say this, it has to be said and ‘we’ as the staunchly loyal citizens from all corners of the world who support Ukraine (especially our team leaders with the megaphones, ;that’s you JP and the rest of the pro Kyiv creators)) .. we have to be the ones to try and make sure 🇺🇦 is addressing any glaringly obvious shortcomings that are preventable as the soldiers on the front aren’t able to do any more than they are already doing nor should they even have to think about it. It’s so bloody frustrating, heartbreaking and infuriating to see what’s happened in Kharkiv in regards to the complete failure of the state to ensure robust and well fortified defensive lines for the soldiers to fend off these Russian attacks. Sadly there has not been any defensive works where they have been needed at all and this all comes after weeks of notice, countless analysts forewarnings and even the heads of the Ukrainian state knew and announced this offensive was coming and precisely when and where it would happen, yet still, STILL there was absolutely fk all prepared other than a pat on the back to the soldiers and some well wishes to go with it along with a bunch of pre prepared typical statements saying ‘it’s difficult but our warriors have stopped the Russians’ and ‘the Russians don’t have enough people or equipment to make anything come from this ‘surprise’ attack’ which is all a load of shit and completely misses the point. Some disgusting traitors have pocketed a bunch of money rather than preparing adequately and unless people start to actually call for the responsible parasites heads to roll and force accountability onto who it belongs Ukraine will have a longer and uglier rd with more losses of life to gain its victory and it’s not even my home country but knowing that a few individuals caused this whole Kharkiv situation just to make money makes me feel sick and also makes me feel like we the citizens need to have the soldiers backs by making sure it never happens again. I know that’s a massive rant I’m just so disheartened and confused at how this has happened first outside Avdiivka and now Vovchansk We owe it to the soldiers in the trenches to use the power of people and numbers and call for this to be addressed

Jonathan.... the most noteworthy news right now is Putin and Xi signing new agreements right after Xi visited France, and Eastern Europe. The whole thing is a pattern that we know increases the risks of world war very substantially. Furthermore Putin took a lot of top level regime members with him to China so a lot of deals were made and signed. We await details but the situation is very grim. We are definitely back in a Cold War situation, or worse, and right now it is uncertain whether NATO, AUKUS, and their other allies are taking it all seriously enough. There is alwayys that sense of disbelief and even denial when such events take place, but it is a very very grim scenario.

A Gabion is some form of basket - originally wicker (American Civil War and Crimean War). These are filled with earth or stones etc to give some ‘walls’ around a battery of guns or part of a fortified position. These days think wire cages that are then filled with stones. It’s a fast and cheap way of providing either similar cover or some fast wall building. It’s used in civil life for shoring up places, or for a form to then backfill sides of cuts in roadways.

While in the air, F-16 have 3 risk: Long/mid range air defense systems and manpads. Too difficult to tarhet all of the manpads on the battlefiels. But it the are takeout the long/mid range systems, they can fly higher to mitigate manpads. With Western precision weapons, they do not need to fly low. I wonder if this is the shaping operation that we are observing now. If long/mid range systems can be mitigated the F-16s will have a significant effect on the battlefield. Let the war eagles fly!
@cstaub5147
@cstaub5147 15 күн бұрын
In their early use, I doubt that F-16's will get very close to the front lines. Instead, as you said, they will probably fly at mid to high altitudes in a standoff role, using their HAARMS missiles in a "wild-weasel" role. Later, they may conduct more front-line ground support missions IF they are provided enough support from other sources to suppress the threat from manpads.
@cstaub5147
@cstaub5147 15 күн бұрын
Of course, their other primary use will be, in combination with Patriot batteries to keep the Su-30's and Su-35's away, to prevent Su-25's and Su-34's from getting close enough to the front lines where they can use their rockets and glide bombs against Ukrainian troops.

Their other primary role will likely be to intercept Su-25 and Su-34 strike aircraft, as long as they are protected by Patriot batteries to fend off the Su-35's and Su-30's.

One thing that I thought since this new defense head came out and said about conserving manpower, this could be an issue for Ukraine in the future if they keep accumulating at a rate of 30k per month and start to significantly reduce their losses

I think your right about attacking air defense with Himars and then when f-16 get in theater they will hunt more air defenses also that will open the sky’s up for Ukraine to hit ground targets and push Russia out the have the United States going to show them how to do it

I wonder , did you see that derailed train yesterday ? I also wonder if anyone else noticed the cargo that spilled across the tracks ? Well , the cargo was logs and scrap metal and fuel carriers . That tells me that Russia is desperate for metal to melt down and recast into war equipment , the logs are for bunkers that will be built on DEFENSIVE fortifications . Empty fuel carriers speak for themselves . Just a observation . Steve Daniels

How many air defence systems does Moscow have in storage, how many on the ground in Zaporizhzhia and Crimea, and how quickly can/do they get replaced are the important factors for Kyiv's push to rid Crimea of the occupying force, so do we have any idea of these numbers?

I often hear on this channel about Belousov as some kind of expert in production and economics, that he will boost rusian military production. But for some reason, I don't hear about what he's really known for in russia, namely his statements that if someone has excessive profits, they should be taken away and distributed. So it's quite possible that he was appointed not to improve something, but to simply take something and throw it into defense, considering there are hints that the economy isn't doing great.

How many dead now. Since the start of a war that could have been avoided. All these dead people.. How are their families going to cope.. Are they all still going to be struggling to put food on the table and cope with the death of a loved one. Now let's look at the other end of the spectrum.. Nooooo don't go there we are doing it for them the poor that are dying look. Whoops no don't look at the prophets. Even the company making the body bags must be making a packet. And let's look at when this war ends.. After so many hundreds of thousands more die. BlackRock and IMF come in.. And investors love that.. So much profit to be made there.. For the people of the Ukraine of course. And . My name is Mickey Mouse

"It is all about boots on the ground". I would beg to disagree. For Mr. P it is all about boots under the ground. Russia starten WWII by invading Poland. They always feel a bit guilty about that. Now they are seeking redemtion. You should be aware of that with your background. Medieval history is extremely interesting in this regard. When kIngs who had ruled with an iron fist sensed that they were running out of steam they often went to die in a monastery. That is what Putin is doing now in an analogeous sense of course. He is looking for salvation at the cost of others, just as he lived his lavish life at their cost too. It will all be over soon. Keep your pecker up.

I am amazed that it took the russians so long to attack on the kharive access. I expected a counter attack almost two years ago; after the Ukrainians pushed the russians back from there. It should be some of the shortest logistics lines for the russians

I think that Putin's might be getting better information. Surely Shoigu would have had to given Putin some explanation as to why the SMO has been going so badly. It might explain why Shoigu has been moved on. I agree that Ukraine are carrying out shaping operations, especially with air defence in anticipation of F16s. I think that the F16s could be a game changers, especially with the glided bomb situation. Fingers crossed . I just realised how simplistic what I wrote was, it's obviously just part of the picture. Putting Russia on a better war footing, efficiency, corruption, and planning for a forever war. I edited it because I just looked like an idiot.

Hmm, you have been dooming. We rely on you and other pro Ukrainian bloggers to show the facts, but not to succumb to omg feelings (and certainly not to criticisms of UFA battlefield tactics from behind a screen of the kind that certain others do, presumably out of frustration). Russia is not half as strong as all the mainstream media and wishy washy bloggers want us to believe. UFA will turn the tide. As long as we keep supporting and donating.

A fully functional F-16 is no match for a fully functional Su-27 nor Su-35 nor Su-37; but... at this rate, will the Russians have any jet fighters left in service when the F-16s appear? Even if they do have a few, will they have well trained crew and will they be fully functional... or with they be falling apart due to neglect and missing key spare parts? S-400 has never been a very good match for any Western jet with modern countermeasures; though enough S400s can be problematic... so reducing their count is critical.
@ScottDavidNolan_
@ScottDavidNolan_ 15 күн бұрын
I get more and more positive, albeit with some cautions, about the impact that F-16s will have... they are not great at anything, but they are pretty good at a wide variety of roles and can increase the range for air-based ground attacks considerably (unlocks Crimea and Kerch Bridge to glide and big bombs). The key weakness of F-16 is they really need a pristine runway without debris... that is going to be a problem, though it can be mitigated with runways farther from the front and airborne refueling...
