Ukraine situation is confusing for a reason. Kiev is excellent at keeping operation security so you will NOT hear anything about any progress. The only information you will get is Russian propaganda. I wouldn't be surprised if there has been surprising gains by the Ukraine forces. The problem is that people (journalists) listen and believe Russian news. The big picture is that Russia is slowly crumbling before our eyes.

Would like to add something further, as it is well known economics in war plays an important role how to inflict damage to the others at a lower cost, our foes have recycled 1950s tanks and very probably also ammunition and have seen on videos collecting destroyed tanks recycling and putting back them to use, on the other hand we are using expensive relatively modern equipment that requires costly maintenance funds, this translates our less efficient using of funds. Even our fors using NK soldiers cost less than Western volunteers.

I don't really understand why Ukraine would divert troops into Russia that could be used for defending its own territory, any resources used on that Russian ground won't come from forces deployed in Ukraine and to be honest that territory will probably be last on the Kremlins list being seen as a clear up operation towards the end of any conflict and certainly not territory that Ukraine will hang on to or be used as a bargaining chip, its simply territory Russia will regain by default and at best causes Russia a little embarrassment.

It affected Russia more by suddenly having a non nuclear state, fir the first time in history, taking land of a nuclear power. It's an embarrassment for putin, he has to divert resources to kursk from other regions to defend his own territory. The fact that they haven't been removed in half a year is another propaganda stunt against Russia, if they can't defend their own territory, what are they doing attacking Ukraine? The whole idea is to make Russia pay heavily for what they take, wherever that's in Russia or Ukraine and since kursk wasn't really defended, it was much easier to make gains in kursk and have russia bomb their own country than it is to slowly retreat in Ukraine and have more and more towns and villages raised to the ground
@Nick_Jarrett4 сағат бұрын
And now putin can't hold a ceasefire. His territory is being held by a foreign power, he can't leave it invaded. It's an embarrassment, everyone is watching. At the worst case he can keep on losing 5-8 to 1 troops to try and get Ukraine out and he's having to rely on north Korea with their ww2 up to the cold war stockpiles of equipment that only a country would be desperate to rely on.

There is also a monumental fifer eve in arming and training Afghans to fight for their own country than asking a third nation whivh has zero , utterly zero claim on Ukrainian territory to be involved, it looks very weak especially as the NKs look so inept. Their strategies regarding drone warfare is at the moment ludicrous even suicidal. Secondly wars and the victor’s are measured by a variety of metrics. If the war was to cease now , Putin would claim victory definitely, he has claimed more land. However the west would also claim victory , Ukraine is still an independent sovereign nation and probably on a fast track to join nato. Russia’s military has also been exposed , exposed as weak , vulnerable and tactically regressive. This I say due to several reasons which can be explained.

One can only admire Ukraine's resilience, as misguided as it may be. Ukraine is losing and cannot possibly win this war. It is, furthermore, a war undertaken not on behalf of the Ukrainian people in any real sense, but on behalf of greedy Western agencies who wish to lay hands on the vast mineral resources of Eastern Ukraine, traditionally and actually in the possession of Russian companies, and worked by Russian people. The Kursk incursion has achieved next to nothing. It has had no significant impact on Russia's gradual advance on the southern front, since no significant troops were diverted from there. The ground itself is virtually worthless and will not even have much value as a bargaining chip in hopefully imminent peace negotiations - even if Ukraine still manages to hold any of it by then, which is becoming increasingly unlikely.

Kiev deliberately tends to smudge its field casualties. American estimates for Kursk are prohibitively high; so hyperbole laud here Ukrainian arms is easily discounted with salient profit-loss analysis. Chasing good money after bad affect both sides and the Americans under the incoming Trump administration will pull the purse strings tight. Kursk, despite initial phase brilliance, has become a defensive battle of attrition, which offer palliative redress for the Donbass front. Considered from a far more pragmatic take, Vladimir Putin is increasingly isolated and buffeted economic storms which the Trump administration will exploit. Indian purchase of varied grades Russian oil at $80 barrel is high above the Western $60 price cap, offering Washington a military strike in economic terms at New Delhi that will impact Moscow. The Indians realize their untenables of course but played string out stud poker percentages to exploit whatever table stakes time opportunity the war afforded. Still, Zelensky killing his children to achieve and maintain fanciful strategic negotiable terrain is lousy tactics. He should know better. Lavrov does, and probably has already discounted tragic Ukrainian deaths.
