The financial implications are hugely overstated in respect of risk over giving frozen Russian funds to Ukraine, in fact doing so sends a clear message to bad actors to the implications of not respecting international law, if you do not want your assets confiscated do not invade another country and carry out war crimes. Where else can countries go to invest in stable a currency but the US dollar Euro and UK pound plus a few others, not like anyone is buying Ruble's.
@jameswarrington94023 сағат бұрын
Perhaps the £300 billion could be held until a war crimes tribunal has reached a conclusion and awarded reparations for their land grab to be paid or not paid by negotiated agreement with whatever Russian government is in power at that time before sanctions can be lifted and the funds unfrozen.

Mr. Foreman, $300 Billion is a relatively small amount in the world financial markets. Why should the West pay with their taxpayer money to support Ukraine, when the frozen Russian cash assets can be utilised? When the war is over, who will pay reparations to Ukraine? The damage done to Ukraine is fast approaching $1 trillion, what do you say to that, Mr. Foreman?

Razman Kadyrov - a Chechen politician, committed war crimes in Ukraine, which means he already has a death sentence. This is a person in terms of thinking and acting who is purely financial and therefore only pretend. Razman is not grateful that the Kremlin led to the death of his father Akhmad Kadrov, which is completely understandable. The Kremlin pays a lot of money to Razman Kadrov, so much so that he claims that it is worth playing his role and he does so to this day. Practically the entire Chechen nation is hostile towards the Russian government for the unimaginable crimes in both wars. Exceptionally, Razman and a certain group of those to whom he gives money to them are grateful, but to what extent they are sincerely grateful is already very debatable (???). To sum up, this is just pretending, playing a certain role. And is there anyone who loves the Kremlin? A052

@rodneyfungus8249Сағат бұрын
@AndrewHart Agree with investing in nuclear, but wind and solar technology has huge issues. The return on energy invested is only about a third of fossil fuels. You can see in the EU that on windless days the cost of energy spikes to over ten times the normal amount. It turns out wind turbines last less than the 25 years that was originally projected. Companies like Siemens have written off billions on their renewable investments. We don’t have batteries that can store surplus renewable energy. Renewables are much less effective and more costly than fossil fuels. Ed Milliband is possibly more dangerous than Rachel Reeves.

Worded like that it is an alarmist statement. Now phrase it differently The Uk still has almost 54% of it's gas reserves. Both statements are accurate but one is alarmist the other is complacent . The Uk is not in danger of running out because deliveries are normal but if you want to say that we really need to improve our capacity .... then I would agree
