Ukrainian orchestra performs at 35th NATO Summit in Madrid - Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Luigi Gaggero

On 29th June, the Ukrainian orchestra Kyiv Symphony Orchestra performed a concert for the presidents of all NATO countries at the 35th NATO Summit in Madrid. It became the second time in the 73-year history of NATO when an orchestra was asked to perform at an Alliance event of such a level. Given by Spanish Government, an invitation of the Ukrainian orchestra to the Madrid Summit while Ukrainian people are bravely and steadfastly resisting russian aggression is a strong gesture of support.
Participation in the 35th NATO Summit was extremely important and even symbolic for the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra due to the historical decisions made during the meeting. The orchestra’s team truly believe that NATO’s new Strategic Concept and the strengthened Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine will help Ukrainians to get freedom and security for millions of lives soonest.
At the Museo Nacional del Prado, which was totally closed for the fourth time in 200 years of its history, the presidents were presented with a Ukrainian program consisting of Maksym Berezovsky’s Symphony No.1 in C major and Myroslav Skoryk’s “Melody” in A minor. By that music, the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Luigi Gaggero presented a unique Ukrainian classical music, and its deepest connections with European cultural processes.

A bit sad that all those notable people in the background can't stay silent when music is performed, especially in the Skoryk piece. They don't seem to really listen?
