I find it funny when the U.S. first gave lend lease to GB, the USSR and all the other Allie’s there were zero restrictions placed on there use or targets. Now not only are they dealing with delays but they have restrictions as to systems and targets by a lot of the same countries that didn’t have them imposed when they need help. Give the military of Ukraine the weapons that are needed and let them fight their war, against their aggressors.

We are training Engineers …I don’t doubt that but I understand we are unable to train our own helicopter pilots because we are not able to maintain our own helicopters

IMO, Ukraine should shove as many pilot trainees into the pipeline as allowed. The fighter aircraft will be steadily coming, but they'll be useless without well trained pilots and ground crews. I just watched a utube video earlier where NK has already begun sending their pilots to Russia. It's far easier to train a pilot from the ground up to fly a particular fighter jet than to untrain one and retrain them on a completely different aircraft from a Soviet country. Ukraine will never have those Soviet/Russian fighters again, only Western models (4th&5th generation) in the future from different western countries.

@@rockhopperpenguin7141 considering we're doing combat ops every year Guarding our own airspace doing QRA And maintaining Baltic air policing RAF crews are more important Ukrainian crews can go to Texas like the Germans and Dutch and Danish et al have been doing since the Coldwar Ukraine counts for nought if a Tu-160 can penetrate our IADS and smash up Conningsby,Loussiemouth , Valley etc etc

@@Renaissance_Kamikaze RAF Crews are trained on Prefect, using instructors trained to teach on prefect. The ukrainian students were trained on tutor, using tutor instructors. This training has no impact whatsoever on the ability for the RAF to get a regular flow of pilots

So listening to the video the main thing they are learning (before they return to Ukraine) is English. Which for a Pilot must be pretty basic training. They are in propeller training planes. I'm guessing there are 2 or 3 more 16 week programs required before one in 5 gets qualified to fly an F-16. Then they jump to asking whether they will get to use Storm Shadows from F-16 which is hypothetical to say the least. No the job is simple, to give credibility that the war has not been 100% lost long ago, and to keep that secret for a couple of more weeks (US elections).

For one they don't necessarily speak English and since most of the western fighter jets being donated to Ukraine are F16's, Either they have to learn enough English to be able to operate them or the F16's would need rebuilding to have Russian / Ukrainian instrument displays and audio warnings ect..

@@Markus117d Well quite. But anyone even part trained to fly any kind of commercial or military plane will already speak English, so these guys are brand new recruits. My guess is that they are preferred children of generals who have been sent to Pilot school in the certainty that they won't see any action till at least next summer while the war will be over by November elections.
