Ukrainian pilots train to adapt to the new F-16s

The Ukrainian Air Force released this footage of pilots training to use the new F-16s provided by Nato allies.
The footage was posted with the translated caption: "Of course, our goal is full-fledged flight simulators ✈️ F-16 on the territory of Ukraine, training aircraft (sparks) and flight crew training centres. But everything starts small"

I am with others here he seems so young but war fighting is a younger mans game. In the US pilots are officers and are older by necessity of rank. The F-16 & MIG-29 are both cold war era aircraft. I've heard that the F-16s have been upgraded over the years, but were they more advanced than the MIG-29 back in the 80s ? Are the Ukrainian Mig-29s useless ?

Most of the F16 are the Block 15 with an MLU upgrade. So it's the first frame of the 1970s with some upgrades. Not enought. They longevity stops this or next year. Not so good avionics... why don't they give the Block 70/72. Or the block 50

The block 15 MLU is basically comparable to the block 50/52 which was the whole point of the MLU program. That the airframes are mostly late -70s/early -80s does not mean anything as long as they have been maintained properly and have flying hours left on them. Besides, the F-16 airframe is designed for a lot more flying hours (8000 hrs.) than e.g. MiG-29s (2500 hrs.). But I guess you are an expert...

It is clear what Ukraine actually needs to win is a reliable way of taking out the Kerch bridge via missile... all these expensive planes and tanks are largely irrelevant (doing things the hard way). Once the Kerch bridge is down Kherson and Crimea will fall within 2 months as the Russians will quickly run out of ammunition and the rest of the Russian positions can be easily flanked by going behind all the defensive lines.

Yes. Most of Nato trains extensively in simulators. Many are either, offshoots or precursors to civilian simulation games. For example, VBS, which is used extensively by the US military, is related to the ARMA series of computer simulations. You can build all the basic core skills, and advanced tactical skills in a simulated environment. At the same time, you lower the cost of training, don't use fuel, reduce the maintenance cost of running a platform though max performance combat routine, cut dramatically the time invested in pre and post-training activities, and can train day or night, in any weather condition, against an enemy that actually shoots back (and can be manned by a real person). The experience you acquire in the simulator shows in the field. I used them extensively during my time in the military and they were a great help. Rather than waiting for field experience, you could compress dozens of conditions and scenarios in a highly efficient training tool. By the time you hit the field you could see a marked difference between units that were taught in the classroom and those who had gone through simulators. I won't say it will turn a green unit into a fully veteran one, but properly used, it can take it about halfway there.

I am not surprised now that they always fall down. and in battles they will shake at all. like over the baltic sea or in Syria I don't remember when a su-30 flew up to a f-35 unnoticed and then turned on the rab that the latter had everything shorted out and then regretted turning on the rab so he on the ground afterwards couldn't get away from the stress for a long time that he had to be treated by a psychologist. pilots!

@@VLAD-08090 Pal, I have no idea what you are talking about. I am talking about my own experience as a Soldier and a troop leader. I used simulators extensively and I made my Soldiers use them too. So I can tell you, from personal experience that they work.
