I think this is as much a result of the "peace dividend" mindset of Europe in the past 30 years combined with the need of former Soviet states to rebuild their economies while lacking all the technical and engineering resources required to maintain and upgrade their militaries. If you need to rebuild your civilian infrastructure and can't imagine a war breaking out, why spend so much of your GDP into what is effectively a money hole?

Thanks for the extra history. Still, it’s Important to note that the Soviets only did a deal with Germany after their offer of a common front against Germany was rejected. In 1938 (despite France and Britain backing down at Munich) the Soviets continued to offer military assistance to Czechoslovakia including 700 fighter aircraft and parachute regiments (if requested). This they hoped would force Germany to back down. Germany was weaker in 1938 than a year later. (Partly because they took all the Czechoslovakian military equipment) Despite interest from the Czechoslovakian military the civilian government refused the Soviet offer, and simultaneously Poland attacked Czechoslovakia along with Germany. (Poland took 3 regions) Realising they couldn’t trust Poland or the West the Soviets did a deal with Germany. The Molotov - Ribbentrop pact.

The Tochka-U fired at Kramatorsk was almost certainly from the Ukrainian side. The Russians have already replaced them with Iskandar and there's no sign indicating Russians have been using Tochka-U in this war. But there were incidents of Tochka -U being fired at DPR residential areas from Ukraine forces in the early phase of the war. The launch vehicles of the two are also different: Iskandar launchers are 8-wheelers vs 6-wheelers for Tochka.

@@f-86zoomer37 You could hope that, but it would hardly happen. Russia won't get up and leave. They have their agenda and they will pursue it no matter what. As they failed to Blitzkrieg the Ukrainian state and install puppet government, their next option is to gain as much advance on south-east and leave it, as it was before, the unresolved lingering conflict. They are especially interested in a land corridor from Russia to occupied Crimea. And that they will most probably succeed getting. Mariupol seems to be near falling point and concentrating all the effort there would give russians what they want. Again, nobody should hope putin leaves Ukraine alone. This is such a dumb argument. It's like saying the AK rifle isn't an iconic weapon. Yeah, ISIS, the Taliban, Boko Haram and pretty much every terrorist organization uses it. You know who else uses it? The Kurds, the Ukrainian Army and most of Eastern Europe for that matter, in various cases, the U.S. even and the U.N., etc. As for the Mi-24 getting shot down, blame Russia. They, like with most of their inherited soviet equipment, don't use them right. They fly 80's, helis, with limited countermeasures and essentially no early warning systems into modern S-300 and MANPADS systems. What do you expect? Not to mention they have been using the Mi-24 like an attack helicopter, which wasn't its purpose and not what it's designed for. The Mi-24 is meant to fly low and fast at a cruise speed of 325 knts (very fast for a helicopter), drop off troops, provide limited fire support, then leave. Not do sorties in MANPADS infested airspace. Also, I'm not sure if this is just a "Russia bad" thing or what, but like with most things soviet, Russia was not the only one responsible for the production of the Mi-24. Ukrainian, German, Belarussian, Slovak, Czech, and Polish engineers all contributed to making the Mi-24 and its weapon systems. Part of the whole reason there is so much animosity towards Russia, especially during the late 80's and 90's, was because of the fact Russia claimed all the responsibilities for the achievements of the USSR, while simultaneously contributing to some of the USSR's worst policies. Russification as its called. This would lead to the collapse in 92-93.

Great Video sir!...It takes surprisingly little damage to make an aircraft unairworthy and not much more to make it a total loss as a fighting platform...conversely even basic revetments of simple construction can protect an aircraft even if it's neighbor is completely destroyed...I'm willing to bet the attack effected more than just two aircraft and generated a significant amount of morale damage to the base...on the other hand only destroying two aircraft indicates that the Russians did have the aircraft dispersed and sectioned off and likely recovered fairly quickly.

Risk scarce resources like two helicopters and skilled pilots... neither of which is easily replaced.... and send them on what even they considered a suicide mission? Even though it was successful, what would this suicide mission have achieved? Absolutely ZERO effect on enemy ability to fight. Did NOTHING to degrade Russias forces who are already in Ukraine... It was said (that Ukraine wasn’t involved) multiple times by Ukrainian military adviser in presidents office in tone that can be interpreted as sarcastic. He’s mimicking Russian response of shooting down Malaysian airways flight, occupation of crimea and support of rebel groups in Donbas region. So it was kind of joke on Russians. He also didn’t outright deny - he said something in the manner of “what happens in Russian soil is 100% responsibility of Russian federation and not of Ukrainian military”

The Russians replaced the Tochka-U with the Iskander in about 2017. All Tochka-U missiles that have been used in the Ukraine are from the Ukrainian military. There are many photos from various targets showing the serial numbers are in close proximity to each other. The missile strike by the Ukrainian forces on the centre of Donetsk a few weeks ago was 13 digits from the Kramatorsk missile. Others are closer. Re Belgorad. It was a well planned mission but probably a rouge one since 1 or 2 Ukrainian Generals where dismissed shortly there after. Remember NATO is doing intel work and feeding the Ukrainian military. So they could determine radar gaps, and these helicopters few very low and fast and the facility is relatively close to the Ukrainian border. Re other attacks. It appears that another Tochka-U was fired into Russia more towards the southern Azov coast according to a journalist that had moved his family out of the Ukraine into that area. No damage and also no media coverage of it. There are sabotage groups inside Russian territory. A railway bridge was damaged south of Karkov. The Russian MOD has just put out a warning that if these attacks persist the command centres will be targeted.

You seem very sure of the fact all these missile are Ukraine, but just based on they have a newer missile, seem very weak reasoning. Please link these serial numbers and the sources of info, if not assume it is bullshit propaganda. T72s were replaced by T80s and T90s and T14s, but I've seen plenty of Russian T72s. Of course Russia have those missiles, they are using up all their old stocks of non guided rockets and bombs, we can see that via countless videos here on you tube. Untill you prove otherwise I have to assume you are not telling the truth. Come on I've called this out a number of times and no one responds, why is that?

Mark, you are always go deep into question, but this time you need to go a bit deeper. 1. Tochka U rockets are not in service in Russia at the moment and never used by Russian forces in 2022 conflict. 2. Serial number of rocket used in Kramatorsk matches serial numbers of Ukrainian rockets (its very close to other numbers of rockets definitely used by Ukrainians). There are photos and videos of that rockets showing that number. 3. Trajectory of the rocket, which is confirmed by witnesses and location of remains of rocket says it was coming from position of Ukrainian forces (specifically - from the territory around Dobropolie). 4. There are words painted on the rocket, saying “za detey” or “for children”. There is no real reason to write such a thing on Russian rocket. 4. Russia also has no real reason to attack civilians, specifically civilians waiting to evacuating train. On the contrary, it’s in Russian interest to allow evacuation as many civilians as possible to prevent using them as human shields by Ukrainians and make future battle for Kramatorsk easier. 5. Population of Kramatorsk and Slavysnsk are like the most pro-Russian in Donbass. It’s the region, where hostilities started in 2014. They are considered as “own people” by Russians and as “separatists and terrorists” by Ukrainians. Overall, all evidence point out, that it was Ukrainian rocket, fired either mistakenly or by purpose to create more international pressure on Russia and get more weapons and money (desperate times need desperate measures). If later is true, their plan seems to be working, western media and a lot of people fallen for that.

First of all, serial numbers only mean that these missiles come from the same factory, nothing else. I’ve seen reports of missiles with similar serial numbers being used in Syria by the russians. Secondly, russians can only claim that Tochkas are not being used anymore officially, but in reality there is footage of them with Z letters on railroad platforms, also there is a chance that some of the Ukrainian ones might have been captured somewhere. Lastly, Za Detey might refer to “children of Donbas” that they are paying back for, or whatever nonsense russians believe in.

I agree on everything. But we should be critic, I've seen some videos with Russians transporting Tochka U rockets. Also they could have stolen from them and used it although it seems unlikely. But yes, I believe that what you described is closer to reality. Strange Mark didn't mention anything and just assumed what Ukraine is saying is true. Without even mentioning: "Ukraine claims it was a russian missile", he just confirms it even though it's a recent event, in the middle of a lot of lies and propaganda, without waiting any further analysis or investigation. Time will tell.

@@Langsdorff_Hans I never seen any images of _Russian_ Tochka U rockets. The only videos - of Belarus from recents drills. Stolen rocket? Seriously? To steal rocket and then fire? No one will believe anyway like media doesn’t believe now. The only argument that makes sense - “Za detey”. But most important argument was - why target civilians of Kramatorsk? No real reasons for that. This attacks benefits Ukraine, not Russia.

In regards to your points :- 1. How do you know, what is your source? 2. Please link these serial numbers. 3. Didn't Russia say they where targeting the railway as it was a logistics hub for military equipment? Sorry I cannot find link hence why I ask the question. 4. Russia has attacked civilians, hundreds of rocket and bomb attacks, plus the evidence of killing civilians in occupied areas. 5. Could counter with why would Ukraine need to kill civilians, enough are all ready being killed by Russians and there is more than enough evidence of that already. Keeping civilians in place also saps resources military forces have in that area, could also negatively effect moral. I'm open minded and not naive to the world, but I won't trust anyone's word without evidence. Sweeping generalist statements about this conflict smack of propaganda, which I dislike immensely when it belittles the civilian loss of life.
@Holzauktion
@Holzauktion 2 жыл бұрын
@@teammonkey8385 By logic, the defender wants to use civilians as human shields, so they can use the propaganda as another weapon. We can see this in all history, more in recent history (Iraq, Palestine, etc.) mainly due to the improvements of communications which any news arrvies with seconds of delay. The invader or attacker, in general doesn't want civilians to get hurt for the same reason, as they would use it as against them. Also they wouldn't waste missiles on innocent defenseless civilians, it's more efficient to target military target, if not, it's a waste of resources. Of course, ALWAYS, the invader commit crimes to innocent people, but in general, and by logic, it's not the common thing to target them with expensive missiles instead of targeting expensive military targets. Another thing is if you want to implement terror, vengance, like in the WWII. But it doesn't seem to be the case here, they could have bombed all Kiev for example, but instead, they are focusing on military targets. As you said, "Russia has attacked civilians, hundreds of rocket and bomb attacks" but why didn't you mention Ukranians? They also bomb and attack civilians even now... To their own population!

Hold on for a second, Dr. Felton! This video is hardly worthy of your reputation. Here is why. The missile strike on Kramatorsk is a controversy, to say the least. Both sides deny that it was their missile. Curiously, you didn't mention this fact, but you mentioned that Ukraine denies involvement in the helicopter raid on Belgorod. Apparently when the Ukranians deny something, that's credible, even if it's likely a lie, but when the Russians do, that doesn't matter? Where's your impartiality, Dr. Felton? There are some interesting details about the Kramatorsk attack. A Tochka-U fuselage was photographed at the railway station, but the serial number seems to match Ukrainian, and not Russian stocks. Admittedly, this isn't good evidence, because only the Russians can confirm or deny it, they are holding the records. Nevertheless, the body of the missile landed southwest of the impact point, which is unlikely if it came from the Russians. The missile won't fly farther than the warhead. But given the short distance, this also isn't decisive evidence, and needs independent investigation. _UPDATE to the above paragraph: The BBC just confirmed that the Kramatorsk missile was indeed Ukrainian, and the serial number is direct evidence._ What's really fishy about Kramatorsk is the extent of damage. There is little to no damage to the railway station, the trains, or the park around it. A Tochka cluster warhead distributes 310 bomblets, 1.1 kg each, on a seven hectare area. The entire station should've been ruined, along with the entire neighbourhood. But that's not what we see on videos. There are a few dead bodies, three car wrecks in the parking lot, a few broken windows on a passenger train, and that's it. Not even the grass was torn up. The entire devastation seems to have occurred on an area of maybe 10x10 meters. That sure wasn't a Tochka. Let alone two, as you stated. I have not yet seen any source that mentions two missiles.

Even if your argument is correct, why would Ukraine do that? Russian forces have hit plenty of civilian targets already, so it'd be pointless to fake this. It doesn't make any logical sense.
