Myself, being a Ukrainian, and listening to this sound of the Double Sopilka gives me goosebumps. Wonderful sound, and a wonderful instrument indeed

You're so right! It's like it's harmonizing with itself. I had tears in my eyes. So beautiful!🥰

I never knew about sopilka's until I saw the Eurovision Kalush Orchestra play Stefania and was hypnotized. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm from Arizona and there is a lot of Native American flute influence in the music. It's so relaxing. But the way it was played in Stefania really opened my eyes to how much of a 'jam' it can be in the right hands.

I've noticed many ppl been pointing out that ukraine has many similarities to native culture and then I discovered that the 1st ukrainians that came to the americas in the late 1800s became good friends with the natives

I love learning about these obscure instruments and I would love to learn how to play them all

I am pretty sure I bought one of his double sopilkas from Goodwill online. Could be an imitation. But looks just like his design double sopilka. Except goodwill called it Dvojnica (doubler flute)

I’m not sure, but it looks like it is the telenka in the video under your link. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telenka "The telenka, along with the sopilka, is a prominent instrument in Kalush Orchestra's 2022 song "Stefania", which won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine." www.classicfm.com/music-news/kalush-orchestra-ukraine-eurovision/ "Stefania is currently the most listened to track out of this year’s song contest entries, and the upbeat track heavily features traditional Ukrainian woodwind instruments; the sopilka, and the telenka."

I think the announcer probably knows already, but English speakers most often use the Russian form unfortunately. I do my best to correct people doing this in USA and stop them from putting „the” in front of Ukraine, but it feels like a losing battle sometimes. Stay safe and God bless.
