Actually, it is one + à kit in two parts: behind à syspem which bringue propulsion and direction, and in front the désignation device. Of course the two parts are LinkedIn with a wire.

The ASS Hammer is no missile ITS a guided bomb.

yeah but I understand him because this kit is rocket assisted, closing the gap between missile and "drop" bomb. Cheers.

Well, it's equipped with a solid rocket motor and is maneuverable. It's also classified as a missile. So I guess your opinion doesn't matter.

A little info on the target would have been nice.

in fact is an intelligent - guided - modular munition extended range with a rocket besides the winglets: "The AASM consists of a nose-mounted guidance section and a tail-mounted range extension kit (featuring winglets for maneuverability and a rocket booster) attached to either a 125-kilogram (276 lb), 250-kilogram (550 lb), 500-kilogram (1,100 lb) or 1,000-kilogram (2,200 lb) class bomb (such as the Mark 80 series general purpose bombs)"; the hammer kit as three target system options depending on the target: 1 - The baseline variant features a hybrid inertial navigation system and a GPS guidance system. 2 and 3 respectively integrate, in addition to the hybrid INS/GPS guidance system, either an infrared homing module or a laser guidance one in the nose-mounted guidance section for increased accuracy, and the ability to hit moving targets. Started to be use in the Dassault Mirage 2000D and use spread also to the Dassault Rafale, at least in France. Cheers

It's definitely a Bomb, gliding, guided , enhanced with a boost kit but the main body is a regular bomb, that's why it's cheap (170K€ for 2348 units) compared to a regular missile (850K€ for a single SCALP). Dropped from a low altitude as seen in the footage the range is 15km for the AASM, seen the flares! it's hot for the pilot. A SCALP missile as 550km op range....A bomb, not a missile.

Why does he call this a missile when the video obviously shows it is not?

AASM is available only in small amounts. Perhaps 10 or about 10 per day, but Russia uses five times more. What are you talking about? It's not support, it's hypocrisy. France could made the decision in 2022 to increase production, but it didn't happen.
@Maddog-xc2zv9 күн бұрын
because it not depends only on winglets but it's rocket assisted making it one of the few bombs to allow kited dumb bombs, ranging from 125kg to 1000kg (276lb and 2,200lb), to engage moving targets.

I get what u mean, but the line between rocket assisted bomb and air to ground missile is very thin.

@@Bean_Amazing Damn, I was wrong & freely admit MY ignorance. I didn't know the AASM had a rocket assist. SMH
