Ukrainian tank commander repairs former Russian tank to turn on enemy on the eastern front.
Tank platoon commander, Dmytro, from the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade said on Monday (June 12) the tanks were being repaired and fitted with dynamic protection plates and camouflage materials.
Ukraine, in the early stages of a long-anticipated counteroffensive, reported on Monday its troops had recaptured a fourth village in the southeast. Moscow has yet to officially acknowledge any Ukrainian advances.
Ukraine is banking on the tens of billions of dollars' worth of weaponry, training and intelligence it has received from the West, combined with its own battlefield resolve, tactical nous and the motivation of driving an invader from its own land, to give it the edge.

There are plenty of repair shops in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria repairing Soviet tanks and sending them to Ukraine. For some reason, all of those countries that suffered for decades under the Russian jackboot seem the most keen to help Ukraine.

The tank is by no means the best in the world. But that main gun and the machine guns it carries are no joke. What most people forget is that tank on tank battles are rare. In WWII, 80% of all tank rounds fired were HE. Another 10% were AP rounds used against fortifications. If your supporting your infantry, you don't HAVE to be in an Abrams or a Leo. A T72 can do the job. The angle iron protective frames are a direct copy from what the Germans used in WWII. The Germans wanted protection from the shaped charge (Bazooka) warheads used by the Allies on the western front. Today the weapon is the RPG-7, and the frames do the same job and do it well. The distance from the armor that a shaped charge warhead explodes at is critical. A few inches is all that is needed to turn a kill shot into some burned paint. Between the cage and the ERA, the crew stands a very good chance against an RPG.

The isosceles cross was already used in the Order of the “Iron Cross” - an award dating back to the Ukrainian War of Independence 1917-1921. It's history is even older.

Just one…maybe two. That’s normal in war. It’s inevitable. To sacrifice 1-2 is a way to learn how these tanks do in actual live combat, adjust one’s doctrine how they are used, and then use the rest to kick ass.

That's what happens when you have to use them without air superiority. When the US goes into battle, it's air superiority from day one. I heard that adversary countries' military playbooks are like "so, after the US has gotten air superiority, we will do X". Should have given the planes months ago to go together with the vehicles. Because that's what they were designed for - to be used together with a real airforce. Not with what remains of a small Soviet airforce after a year and a half of war...

TODAY he showed pictures of the Leopards being towed away for repair in Poland .. 1 actualy was undamaged and just ran off the road and got stuck .. 1 other got a hit on the turret and suffered slight damage ..The Leopards are being sent to Poland for repair .. Some of the Bradleys are undergoing repair by the Ukrainians . So there you go ..

Sorta the same reason that the Curtiss P-40 stayed in production well into 1944. Any tank is better than no tank at all. Especially when your opponent is also having trouble with having enough tanks. Capturing and rehabbing one changes the numerical strength by TWO, not one.
